Anyone know of places to get last minute good deals to Vegas?
Hi all,
Always wanted to see Vegas, so I've decided to go over Easter. Does anyone know where I can get a good late deal. Furthermore, can anyone recommend a really good hotel and some suggestions for things to do whilst there. I'd like to be in the thick of all the action etc.. Something extravagant, that won't break the bank if that's possible!
Suggestions appreciated!
Best,
Ns04

Look on Hotels.com as they normally list all of the deals (and go via Quidco to earn more money back). We stayed at the Paris in November and last time I checked they were doing a deal on stay for 5 nights and get 25% off or similar. This hotel is right on the strip and opposite the Bellagio so you'll be able to watch the water fountain display from your bedroom if you're lucky. Don't stay at the Stratosphere as that is a good 1 mile hike to the rest of the strip before you even get to see where the action is. However, do head to the Stratosphere and do the rides on the top as they will certainly get the adrenaline flowing. Plus, the view from the top is spot on.
As for things to do, of course gambling is the main thing but you should definitely look in to booking a helicopter tour out to the Canyon. We did this and it is a far better way of getting there and seeing it all. If you drive there it is something like a 4-5hr drive each way. With the helicopter tour look to choose one that actually lands as you can get a better perspective of the Canyon this way.
You can walk around all of the hotels/casinos so make sure you do this as some of them are enormous! There are lots of shows on all of the time so you can buy tickets out there.

Loads of hotels to choose from. I've stayed in Caesars Palace and Planet Hollywood. Both are very nice, although Caesars is at the more expensive end of the spectrum. PH, is almost as nice for a lot less money.
If you go I recommend hiring a vette from Hertz for the day. For about $400 you can get a fully insured 425bhp V8 for 24-hours giving you plenty of time to drive to the hoover dam and see other sites within reach of Vegas. You also have to go and see the Grand Canyon, it is amazing. I thought the Skywalk was overpriced and pish (it's not over a particularly high point) so, if I went back, I'd get one of the helicopter tours down through the canyon. Besides all that, just do some gambling, some shopping, some eating, see some shows and spend lots of time wandering around the various casino's soaking up the atmosphere. We went to see "O" at the Bellagio and it was awesome.
Enyoy....you lucky ******

I leave for Vegas for my honeymoon on the 28th! Can't wait.
I'm there for 5 nights. I have booked to see Penn & Teller, and a Grand Canyon Helicopter tour as mentioned about. Also planning to go to a shooting range as you can fire allsorts of guns.
I'm staying at the Luxor.
Then on to Hollywood & San Fransisco!!

I have travelled though expedia the last 3 times i have been. Me and the lads have an made an annual pilgrimage to Vegas and i LOVE it.
Any strip hotel is fine, avoid the Stratosphere and anything that end of the strip, including freemont street.
Go for anything from the Riviera upwards, towards mandalay bay (which is the far end, as is the Luxor.
Get some VERY good walking shoes, as its a mile between EVERYTHING!...
I highly recommend the Riviera, for a hotel because a). it is VERY cheap for a 3 star hotel, rooms have i pod docks, phones, air con, TV, and everything you could need. It is also bout 25 mins walk to the heart of the strip, which is valuable since at some point it will just get too much for you, all the massive hotels dont allow you to "get away" from the bedlam, but the short walk away from the madness of the heart of the strip allows time to unwind, and the Riviera (IMO) has a nice relaxed atmosphere, always felt safe, and friendly, but NO great strip views. (the Riviera is right next to the Wynn Encore, on the strip).
If money dont matter Ceasers is mega, and you can literally get lost in there......GO NOW as its cheap becuase of the American economy, hotels in some cases are GIVING rooms away free, just to get you to stay.....IT IS AWESOME!!!
P.s. on a seedy note, dont bother with "Cheaters" that was crap, the flamingo girls club was ok, but without doubt "Spearmint Rhino LAS VEGAS" is the "place" of my choice....has x6 cash mahines inside.....love it!!!

+1 on Stratosphere, DONT stay there, but pay the $15 to goto the top, i went up with a monumental hangover and it was all i could do to not puke, you can literally feel the temp rise when your on the top....dont pay for transers in any "deal", its 5 mins from the airport to any hotel, and there are a million taxi's....i went in May last years, and stepped out of the airport into 114 oF heat (on temp display in taxi), was 42+oC, i think..NOW I WANNA GO AGAIN!

Fremont Street is a must - at night and I can recommend Sundance Helicopters for a trip out to the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam is good too! Oh and there's also the strip and the lines of people trying to get cards into your hand!

I have to be honest, freemont street was ok, but i found it a little sleezy....totally full of drunk yanks, mashed, drinking beers from guitar shaped glasses, and felt a lifetime from the high brow centre of the strip; i did however get some oxygen in Freemont street, at an Oxygen bar!!! and given how i felt it was worth the trip ....was'nt for me...but worth seeing....
p.s.
Dont stray off the strip at night....we did (16 of us) looking for an all night pharmacy and ended up argueing with a crowd of hombre's (mexicans) who were shooting craps up the wall of said pharmacy....anyway, dont stray at night, vegas is a DANGEROUS city away from the bright lights and glamour....
