Thumbs up My studio rebuild

As some of you may know, I had a lot of time over Christmas with the family!
Not through design (although it turned out amazing), but through intervention by Mother Nature: I had a studio flood.

Wifey managed to throw (no, really!) most of the kit out of the room before too much damage was caused. But not before water was pouring down all 4 walls and resulting in nearly 2" of ice-cold water to wade about in!

Then the ceiling came down under the weight of ice and wet materials.

So I spent a bit of time over Christmas (when not playing Zhu Zhu pets with the kids!) getting to know Google Sketchup -

A basic design of what was already there: no real possibility of going further due to (a) Insurance stipulations, and (b) I also work out of commercial studios so additional monitoring/sound-proofing is available off-site.

And this weekend was the the move-in date: after 3 months of using our sun-room as storage (and also ruining Christmas Day's layout!), I've been able to move everything back in.

Starting with the office part -

Then the studio toys -

I *love* this pic

Next post will have the rest!

Hope you like it so far

Dan

Thumbs up

I'm setting up a maxed-out G5 Dual-Processor as a Logic Node machine, and offloading processor stuff to this. I can access it via Apple Remote Desktop, but also have my Virus and V-Synth to control the plug's parameters.
Thought it would be kinda cool to have the LCD monitor in the rack!! (plugin for demo purposes - haven't got this set up yet!)

Here's the entire "Tower of Power"

Couple of other bits of kit - nothing too slutty though

But I do love the working environment so far - great vibe and I *feel* creative!

Finally, got a very trick electric heater..... I am in the UK, even when it's warm, it's cold!!

Next thing is to install the traps etc. Already built, but there's only so many hours in the day!

Out of interest, my keyboards aren't all installed yet, but the ones on show are:-
KX88 master
SY77 and XP30
The other empty stand, will have my K2000 (in the case from gigging) and a Kronos when it's released.

SY77 is a cracking bit of kit. Still use my SY85, have my SY22 flight cased and stored in the spare room.

That is a class set up you have there.

Thanks guys - still only Phase 1 of my "vision"...... and let's be honest, it's the music that really counts, not the shiny ****!!

<b0ll0cks> it's the lava lamp that really matters!!
