Oven cleaner - serious stuff
Hi all,
Any of you know what the best oven cleaner is and where I can get some?
I am not talking about Mr Muscle and that domestic stuff which barely has any affect, I am talking about the stuff the pros use, the stuff you almost have to wear a hazmat suit to use
Any ideas?
TIA

^^ this stuff for the oven itself but if it's just the racks then Oven Pride as Alcazar says is excellent (about £4 in Tesco). Just be careful, the seals on the ziploc bags aren't always tight so if leaving overnight I tend to put it in the back garden rather than kitchen counter-top or floor.

Nilco Oven cleaner foam is pretty good - just ignore the instructions and do the following:
Needs to be kept air tight overnight as air prevents it working properly- use cling film if the oven door doesn't seal well. (and spray some extra on every few hours whenever you walk past the oven). Then rinse out the next day. Crusty stuff left behind, will just scrape off with a nail.
May need sceond/third attempt if you've allowed your oven get in a bad state (the onus is to clean it regualrly to stop stuff baking on).
Do not use it on on anodised or polished aluminium though (makes it go manky).

Just buy a new oven with pyrolytic cleaning - you wont regret it. I thought it has to be a gimmick but just take out the racks and rails and select cleaning power. My Bosch has 3 settings and Ive never gone past 1. Heats up to 500c and incinerates any dirt, oil stains etc just leaving a small amount of white ash you can wipe away with a cloth. Takes about 1hr. And Im sure someone worked out it uses about 75p worth of electricity.
Now Ive bought special holders so that I can leave the deep roasting tray in whilst the cleaning cycle is on (have to be specific pan types) and omg it came as grey but after 1yr had oil burns on it that youd be lucky to get off wth a brillo pad. 1hr in the oven and its like brand new.

Both products work brilliantly, but a special mention to Oven Pride as it is a quarter of the price and the bag thing did the racks up a treat.
Cheers
