External security light problem
We have a security light just above our front door.
I have a small issue with it that I hope someone can shed some light on. (excuse the pun! )
It has a sensor on it whereby it will come on when it starts to get dark.
In the day time however, I have the option to switch it off and on via the wall switch in the porch.
But, I cannot turn it off during the evening. The switch on the wall has no effect!
Any ideas??

There should be the option to apply 2 lives to it, one to power the sensor so it switches on and off and one as an override where you can add a switch. The easiest thing to do would be to usea double switch where you can switch off the live to the sensor if you don't want it to come on at all. But there should be a setting on it where you can turn the sensor on and off.

The PIR will normally have four terminals. ‘L’, Live ‘LS’, Live Switched by the sensor, ‘N’ Neutral and sometimes an earth.
Check if your switch has a yellow cable, if it does it should be connected to the L1 terminal, with no other cable using that terminal. Then on the PIR, that same yellow cable should be connected to the LS terminal (switched live terminal)
My PIR's are automatic switching units, as in knocking the switch on/off quickly puts the PIR into permanent on mode, to put it back into auto mode leave the switch off for a few minutes to reset. Also they have different modes on the back, permanent night on, being one of them, time delay and light level being another two I can remember off the top of my head.

Makes perfect sense. It is a new build and I don't think the site manager believed what I was saying!
At least now if I go back to him armed with a bit of knowledge, he can pull his finger out!
Cheers peeps!
