Happened to me, must have been 20 years ago, at the time I was delivery driving and flashed a couple of cars coming the other way. Little did I know one was an unmarked car
They turned around, pulled me over and read the riot act but just gave me a warning luckily

That is very pathetic.
Flashing (lights, that is) for such hazards has been a popular practice in North Wales since Brunstorm's times, and still remains a heartwarming one. We'd better be warned now!

I shall continue to warn people and would go to prison before I paifd a fine for so doing.
My defence would be that the speed trap is there to slow drivers down and that's what I was doing. Aren't they called safety cameras now?
Noted that this is, once again Dumberside Police, one of the worst performing forces in the country. Now you know why.

So if you see someone about to throw a brick through a jewellers' window, shout at them, and they run off, you are guilty of "wilfully obstructing a police officer" because they then have no-one to arrest

So should the Police/Highways Authority be prosecuted for putting up signs on the A24 near me saying "Speed Camera Ahead" be prosecuted

I lived overseas where it was a serious offence and so drivers switched to turning on their wipers to warn others (just cleaning the screen officer
). But it didn't rain much there which helped!

Just goes to show the pathetic individuals who work in the police force and in the CPS who think this is something worth pursuing when as mentioned in the article court time and prosecution time is at a premium yet they would rather get a pensioner in court and give him a criminal record all for flashing his headlights whilst the country has to sit back and see burglars/thieves and goodness knows what else walk free from the crimes they commit.

I have a friend who was approached by the police for "flashing" other motorists to warn of speed trap.
I was present when they talked to him.
It went like this
Officer: Mr Jones - our officers witnessed you flashing at vehicles today warning them of a speed check
Friend: What sort of car was it - I flashed at a friend?
Officer: You were witnessed flashing at 6 different vehicles.
Friend: I saw 6 friends on that road today.
And I swear to god - his expression never faltered

Key thing is never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, tell the police a) anything, if you can't do that b) the truth.
When it gets to court (which it won't if you stay silent) you patiently wait through all the evidence against you and, when called into the dock, your lawyer will probably ask, "did you flash your lights at the time in question" to which you respond, "I'm led to believe by a police officer that I did, I have no reason to disbelieve him". When he then asks why you say, "I indicated to move lane but must have pulled on the stalk by mistake."
Case closed
This guy got done because he admitted the reason he was flashing his lights. Remember, the police - more often than not - need you to convict yourself in some fashion.

It all depends on where i am and who is speeding to whether i flash or not , say im driving through a residential area a 30mph zone and some idiot is belting along then No flash from me as i don't condone it however someone coming along at normal speed id give them a flash just so they dont get nailed for doing say 34 in a 30 .
Ive seen them sitting with cameras on open roads with no pavements no pedestrians and id give everyone a flash
