Thumbs up for Lloyds!
I know the banks get, and usually deserve, a good kicking from the customer service angle, but they've done good by me this morning. Wife answered the phone and got an automated voice 'Lloyds fraud line. Ring us on this number ......'. Checked with Lloyds first to ensure it was legit and rang it back. They go through (automated voice) a recent list of transactions that were supposedly made by me recently. All legit except the one they said was declined - £2205 to Scandinavian Airlines ...! Got a real person on the line and they needed confirmation that it was me that made it. Nope! So, card stopped and new one next week which shouldn't be too inconvenient as it's a joint account and the wife's card is fine.
But top marks to Lloyd's systems for being on the ball! And if your New Year's break via Scandinavian has been curtailed then ...

They did the same with us on Boxing Day last year.
Someone had tried to use our card number on an on-line gambling site for about £500.
As it didn't tally with our spending pattern we received a call at about 9pm and got it sorted.

I don't really understand how fraud works in these instances: Someone is buying a ticket that has to have a legimate name on it and will turn up at the airport. Isn't that just stupidity?
My wife recevied a bill for a Sony Laptop and Phone from 'Very' as someone opened an account in her name, without validation and they shipped the goods to a different address. They are asking to be defrauded if that is the only validation they do ...

The guy on the phone had no way of knowing a) where/when my card was cloned or b) where the transaction took place from that was declined. It'd be nice to know a) but as long as the fraud wasn't successful that suits me!

I don't know anyone else, but the whole validation system is shocking. I got stung for a loan by mco capital one of these 3000%apr places, saying i owed them £500 odd.
Come to find out me and 7000 others got stung, they used experian for the validation but it was the bare minimum to pass, no address needed just name and dob which they all got from the electoral roll.
Needless to say they've been on watchdog and i've sent a stern letter recorded as per required to state i've nothing to do with it.
