New TV?

New TV?
So what's the best? One mate says plasma, and his DOES have a good pic.
My two lads both have Samsung LCD and they are good pics.
My bro in law has a backlit LED one, he reckons it's a better pic than mine, which is a Toshiba CRT, (yes, some of us do still have old technology), but I can't see that ANY of them are actually BETTER than mine.
And what of any NEW technology? Aren't OLED and SEED on the way?
So: plasma, LCD, LED, or something else?

LED have brought LCD's closer to PDP's with better blacks and contrast, but I always prefer the natural, film-like image a good Plasma offers. An LCD generally suits casual TV viewers and gamers, PDP is better for serious TV and film lovers. We have a good (Philips) LCD in the bedroom and a Panasonic PDP in the lounge, and the PDP is like looking through a window compared to the LCD being more like watching (a very good) TV. Our PDP is now quite old, and more up to date sets are much better. A Pana G20 with 600hz and Freeview/Freesat HD is stunning for around £1k, or go the whole hog and get a VT20 with 3D (you might not use/need it now, but you might regret not having it in a years time) for £1.8k.
Edited to add, the new ranges normally ship late January to early Feb, so there'll be some decent offers in the NY sales. Or wait for the new models which may move the game yet further. I'm a bit out of the loop and don't know what they're planning next, but there's usually a big leap in capabilities every year now.

Jeff, when you're better and come round mine I'll show you my tv. Probably just what you want but can be had lots cheaper now. I wouldn't have thought you'd need a super duper 1000000 pixel backlit 95" ABC LED 3D TV
Come with me round Comet or Currys and we'll barter !!

Panasonic Plasma end of
Plasma was outdated at one point by LCD but its back and is honestly better.
The LED Tvs are good but some bleed alot
U wont go wrong though if u go Samsung or Panni
pers choice though would be Panni
I have both and Xfactor this weekend looked much better in HD on the panni plasma more crisp deep blacks etc.

Have a couple of Panisonic 2010 range T.Vs in the house. Have both a 37" LED backlit LCD and a 42" 3D TV G seiries Plasma The one you can buy from Comet with the 3D Blu-ray player and glasses thrown in). The LED one is very good with hardly any blur on motion. The Plasma is very good, but still have that issue with burn in on a PLasma if you leave something displayed on pause for a long time. Bought the Plasma as the lounge is quite a dark room and I beleive Plasma make use of this. Also note that had a bit of an issue with Comet as I barted on free delivery with them in the store, but when the whole lot came, only the TV was correct. The free 2 pairs of 3D glasses were missing and got an upscaling DVD player. In the end managed to get the missing pieces but it was a faff.

Their should be a sticky at the top as this gets asked most weeks lol, what about having a seperate AV forum as their seems to be one for most other things like PC`s and DIY etc.
Another vote for a Panasonic Viera plasma, ive had mine for 3 years and the picture is stunning.

Have one of these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-PS50...2445415&sr=8-7
Good telly and no screen burn....their's a function if left on pause, the tv refreshes the picture and after a few minutes a screen saver comes on.
