Default installing a sky hd box in another room.

I have just spoke to sky about getting multiroom and they don't offer sky + boxes anymore just the normal box or the hd box.

I spoke to them last week and said i was not happy so they gave me either 50% of my sky tv for a year but I decided to add movies and hd again so they gave me a 25% discount for a year not bad for a phone call.

My problem is now they want £200 for a hd box and £60 quid to fit it. I don't want a normal box as I want to record.

I have seen I can pick a hd box up of ebay for about £50 so i was planning to fit it myself. Am I right in thinking I just to need to buy twin wf100 shotgun cable and connect this to the box and the sky dish. Then run a phone line to the box and hdmi to the tv.

Is it easy enough to do. Any other ideas?

Thanks

We'll I'd forget the phone line to be honest.

Why don't you ring round a local company
Do you have spare capacity on the LNB?

Bigsinky's yer man here - he's a sky hure
Got an octo LNB on his dish!

You need a phone connection to pair the box to the card...

dunx

P.S. Multi-room required +£10 a month, if you do you might as well get a HD box with a huge Harddrive added...

We dont have a phone line connected to the HD box either and also have a box in another room without the phone line.

Just means you cant order box office movies etc.

But you can surely?
I ordered the David Haye fight and I don't recall having to connect the phone line.

I do have a line into the back of the HD box, but its not connected to the socket as apparently it can interfere with broadband.

If you have Multi room you should have to have them both connected to phone line. Single box you don't after your first 12months

Maybe you can then. I've not tried it since we upgraded to the HD box, so cant say for sure either way. Definitely couldn't do it with the ordinary box with no line.

you don't need phone lines connected for set up either - we have sky plus and sky hd in separate rooms - I got a chap I trust to install it as the Sky chaps are utter pants - then rang them to get them to talk me through setting it up. Sorted.
