Frank: Now, Jane, what can you tell us about the man you saw last night?

Jane: He's Caucasian.

Ed: Caucasian?

Jane: Yeah, you know, a white guy. A moustache. About six-foot-three.

Frank: Awfully big moustache.

His fame came quite late in life but it was worth the wait.

You've never seen Forbidden Planet then? 1956 and quite possibly one of the best films ever. He was known as a serious actor for some time, so the break into comedy wasn't easy.

A quick IMDB sees him listed in his first role in 1950 when he'd have been about 24.

Forbidden Planet was awesome, a childhood favourite which I can still re-watch in fascination today

Didn't realise he was that old. Certainly not worthy of an abreviation: Requiescat In Pace

.....and stop calling me Shirley!

Sorry to hear about that. He was certainly a genius, we have lost yet another legend.

Sad news.

The hospital scene in the first Naked Gun film remains one of my favourite comedy moments

R.I.P. Leslie, and thanks for some genuinely side-splitting moments on film!

Pretty much what I was going to say. Based on 'The Tempest' and the perfect example of a fifties science fiction film.

I have 'Police Squad' on DVD (£3 a couple of years ago, for all six episodes: bargain), which I might watch right now, in Leslie's honour.
