If it says Truvelo on the side then yes its a forward faceing IR camera.
Hope you've not been done.
Look for the induction loops about 20ft before the unit.
Only GPS will spot these not radar.

Robby, it will flash but in the IR spectrum all you would see is the red lens go a bit bright.
Jawa, Induction loops are metal loops sunk in the road before the camera. When your car goes over the loops the iron in the body induces a small electric current, its does the same on the second loop giving time between two fixed points & therefore speed.
As its a totally passive sensor laser & radar detectors won't see it.

Just saw the new High Wycombe one on Monday
Sorry to say that the road did need something to keep people down to 30.
Not happy about average speed ones on the open road though - good job we went backroads on Sunday.

let's hope that you can flash the euro 550 etc up to detect the new cameras then...or is that just wishful thinking. It won't be long before someone invents the detector for these anyway
It's a cat & mouse game, but the mice have much more money & resources thank god
ps for the brain deficient, the mice are the companies who make the detectors
shunty

Rachel,
I know the one you mean. Its just after the Grayhound pub as you go from the dual carriage way round the roundabout to single lane.
Its a forward facing Truvelo it was new in last week. There is a chance its not operational yet, maybe
You'll just have to wait 14 days now.

Thats the one Ian. They also have tiny radars in front of the cars parked on the left as you approach the roundabout where the lines are, but as there was no camera everyone shoots down there, well i do in me scoob but randomly these little things appear.
Hi Nathan a shoulder would be nice
I cant help it the scoob just wants to go fast, it hates going slow its a bad place really cos youre coming off the rounderbout accelerating

Definately Truvelo, got them in Northants.
They take a picture as you come towards it so you can then identify if you need to who was driving the car if it is registered to you but you say you werent driving.
There is an issue thought with a lot of cameras that they cant get a power supply straight away after installing them as happened in northants.

Usual disclaimer re wouldn't do this myself bla bla bla BUT
I have heard that authorities have put no infrastructure in place to forcibly reap their crop of £40's. Basically 90% of people go quietly and send in their money/licences and that for them is a result.
In order for a summons to be effective it has to be served personally i.e. put in your hands. Apparently the remaining 10% are just binned (especially the case when you live outside of the county thats done you).Whether or not you are prepared to sit it out for 6 months until the statute of limitation runs out is up to you.

Matt,
Are you sure? I ask because I've had a summons before and not "gone quietly" and the fact that it came by post didn't seem to have anything to do with it.
I can't believe that all summons' are sent by post and this is not a "real" summons.......
