Unhappy

Following an incident involving a horse (& my car, not me ), I need to claim from the rider for damage sustained to my car, is there a legal requirement for a horse to be insured on a public highway, or is it purely discretionary ?

No legal requirement, I'm afraid, but good sense if you ask me.

Gotta claim against the rider/owner personally.

I was insured on the road with a horse.

Sounds daft, but it isn't if you have an accident.

My mum was nearly killed in an accident involving a horse and an idiot who *didn't see* her.

(She was wearing full flourescent wear as was the horse in the relevant places)

IF they havent got specific insurance they may be covered under their household policy. Ask them to check.

I believe the answer is that you claim off the stables that house the horse (who should be insured for public liabiity) or the public liability insurance of the owners of the horse (which normally comes with your household policy).

Nothing wrong with horses on the road - its some of the owners/riders that are the idiots (nothing at you Michelle, just there are quite a few round where I live who have their heads up their... )

Dunno about you, but getting well hacked off with serious posts being hijacked by muppets

Michelle,

Deleted your replies as well, or it wouldn't have made sense

Hi,

I've deleted all the non relevant posts (to be fair and make this thread still make sense).

IMHO this is a valid question requiring fair responses

Hope you all understand
