Not that I am a doctor but I think you can take paracetamol and ibuprofen together....I mean I used to.

Incidentally I was a habitual ibuprofen taker after hurting my back and shoulder for over a year, and I started to get agonizing tendinitis in various parts of my body earlier this year. I was wondering if it was inhibiting blood flow so now I stopped taking it and am slowly feeling better.

Dunno about codeine.

You can get both paracetamol and ibuprofen with added codeine: Panadeine and Nurofen Plus available over the counter over here. If you're taking that many painkillers that often perhaps best to see your GP. At least then you can get prescribed something with a decent amount of codeine

NO you are not supposed to take codeine with paracetamol (I presume your talking about co codamol) as they contain paracetamol too as I was told by my dr earlier this year when I was in a car accident

You have completely misunderstood the question. He is talking about Paracetamol, why are you presuming he is talking about Cocodamol?

You have to be careful with codeine, it's actually very easy to become addicted to it.

he asked if he could mix codeine with paracetamol I presume he will be talking about co codamol as that is the main pain killer with codeine in, in which case he cant mix them

Yes, according to my doc you can as long as you are not allergic to them!

I was told take them 2 hours apart (4 hours between a dose of each particular drug) so they overlap each other eg: paracetamol at 9am iburophen at 11am, paracetamol at 1pm ibuprophen at 3pm if you see what i mean.

Do not exceed the max number per day so just get the spacing/interval right.

No, he said he is taking paracetamol and ibuprofen and wanted to know whether he can take codeine as well. Cocodamol was never mentioned, why are you presuming about a drug he never mentioned??

I think you would be ill advised to take the codeine as well without checking with your doctor first.

I personally wouldn't use codeine or it's stablemate dihydrocodeine tartrate (DF118) along with the paracetamol / ibuprofen combination. Side effects not good

If you are getting breakthrough then you need to see a medic about the pain you are having.

Why do you need pain relief?

Cocodamol works a treat in high doses, well it did for me with very little side effects.

My mate collapsed with the same dose as me. He next tried wacky backy resin- had the worst trip in the world and spent a week in bed with terrible dreams/nightmares. He couldn't feel any pain though

What people do to get rid of gout pain!

Agreed, I can't get away with it at all. Almost knocks me out. Which is a shame as it's the only painkiller I can take other than paracetamol, which does the square root of **** all.

DaOne, what's the pain, are the others helping at all? If you feel you need something stronger it's worth speaking to your GP to see what's best suited to you for the pain you are feeling. You'd have to go anyway if you wanted codeine.

Codeine + Paracetamol = Cocodamol. So yes, you can.

I'd skip the Ibuprofen though if taking the above
