Wink Can spiders do any harm?

I always have a few spiders in my office, not an infestation just 3 or 4 perhaps. I think they get in via the air bricks from the outside. Now they don't do me any harm and I refuse to squash them. They are also tricky to pick up without damaging them and I don't mind removing the odd web to keep the place looking clean.

But I just wonder if they can actually do any harm such as creeping into the back of a computer and buggering up the electronics?

Anyone know?

David

They'll paralyse you with a bite, wrap you up in web stuff, then suck your brains out through your ear!!!

Easy way to pick them up is to put a glass (obviously big enough) over them then slip a sheet of paper underneath.

I do that for Bumble Bees when they refuse to fly towards the windows and doors I have left open for them

But these spiders don't hang about and the sight of an empty glass would be enough.......

Most buildings have hundreds of spiders not just the few that you see.

Apparently we swallow on average three spiders a year when we are sleeping!!

Spiders will do you no harm at all, in fact they will help keep the flies down ;-) but should you not want the spiders why not get a Praying Mantis as they eat spiders, although you may then need a humming bird to get rid of that but then...ok i'll stop.

I know a girl in this country that ended up in hospital because of a spider. She was in a bad way for some time too.

It fell from her sun visor and she stacked the car untidily in a field.

lol, this is a myth, they will sometimes walk on you, or your face when wandering about, but run like **** when they realise that the surface they are walking on is alive and they might get squished, spiders are pretty much scared of massive moving things, and a moving breathing mouth is not going to attract any spider. It is feasable that you may feel something on your face, squash it dead, and then somehow it may go in your mouth all whilst sleeping........Blame lisa holst for this myth.

Yip, perhaps not necessarily your shoe because you'd have to remove it first etc - but still wack them with something nonetheless

All jokes aside, there has been a lot of false widow spiders about this year.
We had one outside our back door and are quite a bit further north than you. They dont really bite humans that often, but if you do get bitten and you are fairly light you might find yourself off work for a couple of days with flu like illness.

Larger humans wont really notice it or will feel off for a few hours.

Tarantulas can jump onto your face and chew your nose if you get too close. A US survival training officer told us that.

There aren't many around over here though!

What's a False Widow when it's at home?

And why hasn't someone posted the pic of the Camel Spiders?
