Avoid These Movies...

AI- starts of slow, gets slower, peaks with a slow bit then slows right down and goes mad- it even jumps 2000 years into the future in 10 secs flat and even that bit is slow.
Jeppers Creppers- not since steven segals On Deadly Ground have i seen such cack- turned it off about 75% through- absolute pants- not scary, not funny, not emotional, not bloody anything- cack- cack- cack.
Planet of The apes- not bad at all and worth watching (funny how after 30 years it still isnt any better than the original though)
although the ending does scream Apes 2 is on its way! which is a bit ham fisted.
anyway- there you go 2 to avoid and one to watch!
Tiggs
ps- best in show- quite funny if you like dogs.

Planet of the apes is quite amusing on DVD as there is a whole section on how they trained the actors to be 'monkies'
Should come naturally so I thought - Anyhow the misus had to put up with my attempts for the next week - Funny I still find myself scratching my bollo.....

paul,
do not watch JC- just take it back now!
Behind Enemy Lines- when i went to see this i thought "hmmm, jet planes, hope they dont use too much computer gen stuff cause it never looks as good as Top Gun" but..... the jet bits were SUPERB , best bit of the film was the jet skimming the tree tops followed by the missile!

Not seen AI, still going to see it though.
Couple to watch out for, coming out in USA real soon, (so UK in 6 months time no doubt ) are;
Changing Lanes with Sam L Jackson and Ben Affleck
and
Frailty with Matt McConaughey and Bill Paxton
both look very good indeed, and hoping to see them when I can drag my lazy *** to the cinema, sorry, theater!

interesting tread, I quite liked AI but thought The Fast and The Furious was absolutely cr@p, it was recommended by a few folks on here. Obviously its a taste thing.

Most overhyped film ever was 6th Sense - utter bollocks and was so obvious that Willis was dead that there was no point watching it all. A better film along the same lines that was out at the same time but didn make such an impact is Stir of Echoes which I watched last week and really enjoyed.

The problem with the Fast & the Furious was that it displayed such outstandingly incompetent research on how performance motors work (especially the nitrous fuelled ones), that it was laughable.
The bit at the end where the yank muscle car lifts its nose four feet into the air without even moving forward was straight out of Herbie goes to Monte Carlo. Point Break in cars without Keanu Reeves' outstanding acting talent IMO!

Jeepers-Creepers spoiler
..........basically that was pretty near to the end.The monster/devil thing just flys off with the lad and leaves the girl.........thats it,...and then in the last scene you see the monster/devil in his 'lair' with the lad strung up dead.

Sixth Sense:
Yeah I too thought it was totally obvious that Bruce Willis was dead all along, yet no-one I've spoken to agrees and they all think I'm just pretending I figured it out.
You go to film where you know the main thread is going to be about a boy who talks to dead people, then one of the main characters gets shot (or was it stabbed?) in one of the opening scenes and then in the next scene which is two years later, he's wearing exactly the same clothes. I mean - DOH!!??
Best films?
Stars Wars (the original one.)
The Shawshank Redemption
Didn't enjoy Vanilla Sky (Tom Cruise version).
Too weird. Got better near the end (ie it made a bit of sense!) but just seemed a bit like The Matrix meets Total Recall.
Maybe it's better the second time around?
Fast and Furious was crap - but kind of fun at the same time.

I thought the Fast & the Furious was cool. A lot more entertaining than Gone In 60 Secs bar the lack of Angeline Jolie with blonde dreads
Who wants a factually correct film for gods sake, if I did Id watch a documentary instead. People are so sad that I found a nitpickers site where somebody complained that Billy Zanes character ordered Roast Lamb when it wasnt on the menu that day on the Titanic - I mean get a grip on reality.
