I'd vote "**** off" (that's technically a "no" btw) - not only because they meet just 1 of the 35 auqui communautaire chapters, but because they are a bunch of dirty kabab shop owning *******.

Turkey is in someways the most advanced Islamic nation but it does an Islamist movement and out in the sticks is backward in the extremes.
The issue is the flood of immigration to the UK it can engender.
I have big issues with the mass immigration of backward 3rd world people to this country. One reason is the over population, the other is the social 'shock' they bring. Feed 3rd world people in and they can be assimilated piecemeal as their kids go through the education system, but when they come in on mass and you have problems. It's like the barbarian mass immigrations which sank the Roman empire.

And you've resorted to ad hominem abuse in post 7. You do not know my position on this and I'd be greatful if you could employ a little restraint and decorum, and perhaps deliver a mature, considered contribution.

Insulting??? Just a bit of banter in my book, as I said before you are taking yourself way too seriously on these threads.
Oh and for someone with so many big words greatful is a bit of a slip up isn't it?

I don't know it, but I can sure make an educated guess LOL! Your agenda is fairly transparent.

I am all for a serious discussion every now and then, but you two are just posting multiple threads with the intention of getting a rise over certain issues. You know it, I know it and half of NSR knows it.
As for Turkey being in the EU... no, they are not part of Europe. End of argument.

Our carbon footprint is reduced because our fishing fleet is grounded most of the year. And when the fleet does get it it helps by feeding the endangered speicies that is the herring gull undersized fish that the EU force them to chuck back in the sea.
All while the Danish and Spanish fleet basically do what they want.

I saw some nebby saying yesterday that we are paying them £120 million a day at the moment, and that is before we lose the rest of our rebate which Maggie negotiated and Billy Liar gave back to them!

Has anyone considered that Turkey has the second largest army in NATO and has the strategic advantage of bordering Iran? Then there's the Nabucco pipeline, significant natural resources and its secular/Islamic set-up which should surely be embraced and nurtured (Turkey prohibits by law the wearing of religious headcover in government buildings, schools, and universities). A number of advantages, I'm sure you'll agree and why both the Tory and Labour leadership support its accession. On the flipside you have Sarkosy who's opposed fearing mass immigration and believing this outweighs all of the advantages. Allthough quite why anyone would want to leave a warm, spacious, democratic country is beyond me.
I've been undecided on the issue for a while, its always the spectre of a Trojan horse that stops me fully supporting accession.
