Hand held hoovers???
Such as this.
Are they any good? We have a dog and need to hoover the places that the push around hoover can't get to. The only handheld hoover i've ever used was just about good enought for sucking up biscuit crumbs but that was about it.
The one in the above link seems to be aimed at pet hair and reads very well but that could just be sales blurb

Apprently it has good suction, but the battery is only good for 10mins of use.
Fine for spills, but not so fine to do the stairs or a couple of sofas etc.
Hence why I bought this: http://www.google.co.uk/product_url?...=0CCcQgwgwCDgA Which has a infinite power reserve (mains)

Yeah, 10 minutes ain't long. I really wanted to stay away from mains power. I could do with one which has both options ie: if the battery goes flat, it can also run off mains

We have that Dyson with a long stem brush, and two gingga cats, use it every single day on our wood floors. It's perfect and so much easier than getting the "hoover" out.
Three minutes on a Saturday morning in the kitchen - job done!
- Won't vacuum water
- Lasts about 6 minutes before dying
+ Easy
+ Lightweight
If you have carpet maybe think about it, but laminate or wooden floors and pets = no brainer.

No idea, I'll ask the missus
Fairly sure I've seen her using some sort of pipe thing on the back of our push around vacuum that has various attachments to get into the places the vacuum itself can't get too

From comments I've seen, partly on here from memory, none of these hand-helds last very long. I have a B&D one and we get a few minutes (like about 2 at the moment!!) before the batteries give up. They all have cheap NiCd rechargeables so best replace them with something decent. Look around for radio controlled car/boats/planes websites and forums for where to get a better battery pack.
The hoover I have has 10x small-C sized batteries. I'm going to look at the space they take up and get a single, larger, battery to go in its place. When I can be bovvered ... As they are actually very useful.

I've had the Dyson for about 4 years, it permanently sits on its charging station hidden away in a utility room. Gets used about 4-5 times a week and will last around 6 minutes. (6 minutes is a long time running around with a hand vacuum!)
If you can afford it, get it.
