paraphrasing...
"there won't be a 7" iPad - makes no sense, it's too small"
"android is too fragmented and developers have to cater to multiple market outlets, handsets and versions of the OS"
"RIM won't succeed unless they build great software too"

Jobs: "Apple has been activating 275,000 iOS devices/day and up to 300,000/on some days. Google still hasn’t announced anything beyond 200,000."

I spot a lack of a smiley with that comment ......
Though you are right. Apple does like its users - because they're gullible enough to part with shed-loads of dosh to buy the latest Jobsian techno fad.

There's free music every week, some TV shows as well. Podcasts are of course free as is Radio and the App store is full of great free Apps. Try www.freeappaday.com loads of very good apps appear there.

okay, fair cop - there's loads of free stuff - apps, podcasts, etc.
i'm all out on the CC details required argument.
I tend to buy a lot, so it's a no brainer for me - I have nearly 200 apps and most are paid for.

to be fair JackClark's link seems to suggest it is possible -- but you have to jump thru hoops
why can't they make it clear on the initial application screens -- I thought that was what Apple ownership was all about - it seems, like most religions, you have to give your soul (and credit card details) as a price of entry

It is quite simple. I have used it loads of times to set up app store accounts for corporate customers. Think about it, how many large corporates have a business credit card that they are happy to dish out to users (on iPads and iPhones) just so they can get apps that they need ?
It is, in fact , a slightly quicker method than actually going through the whole setup an account, link a credit card, click the confirmation email, accept the terms and verify that the card is being accessed by another device.

In the time you've argued that it's too difficult you could have set up twenty accounts. I thought you'd be happy that it can be done without a gift card.
