Dog racing
It's my mums 50th tomorrow so we're going to the dog races at Pontefract. There's about 15 of us going of all ages so I'm looking forwards to it.
Only thing is I'm not really clued up on the races never mind a betting man. Could anyone offer tips or any kind of etiquette to follow. I was thinking until I get into the swing, I should make small 50p/£1 bets etc. I understand dog racing or small piddly bets may be 'underneath' some on here, but genuine advice is welcome.

My missus has went a few times and really enjoyed it. Her work takes them every now and again, they only bet small amounts like you've suggested as its all about the fun rather than baggin a bunch of cash.

Been a couple of times, horses as well.
Just chill Andy, no real etiquette that i found. Look at a selection of bookies for the best prices and enjoy yourselves.
1 in 7 chance of winning so you should be able to pick a couple of winners through the evening. You do get some real outsiders, like 10-1,16-1, stick £2 each way on it you might come up trumps.

The dogs is usually a good night out..
It can get expensive for drinks and stuff, well it will be if its anything like Belle vue,but hey have a blast..
I always pick 2 dogs per race, then bet on them both in a double.. So if they come in position one and two you pick up the 1st dogs odd x 2nd dogs odds..
I was only betting £2 per bet but had 3 winners over the full card and returned over £50..
Just study the dogs in the program. It shows there form,so rank outsiders aint worth betting on.Look at the odds before each race, then go favourite and another top 3 dog in a double bet..
Always worked for me in a small way.

as above the dogs is a god night out, as others have said just enjoy the evening, you get better odds outside and the minimum outside is £5.00 although if you need any help the inside bookies are the best for advice, have a good night.

We went to Walthamstow dogs (I think its closed now) a couple of times on works do's and they were really good nights out. I did the same as FSF1 and picked two dogs in each race, in fact I just stuck with the same two numbers for all the races. One night one of the dogs actually turned round and suddenly appeared running past us the wrong way.
Ive been to Owlerton, Sheffield a couple of times and it was equally as good, I'm sure you will enjoy it.
