Ours keeps the bread maker, smoothie maker and ice cream maker company in the top cupboard.

PS My mum still makes proper chips in a chip pan. Glorious they are. My kids love Grannie chips

Don't own one but there is something special about home made deep fried chips My other fave is deep fried fish fingers, they come out nice and crispy but with the middle still moist, yum!

Can't be bothered with the hassle of cleaning / buying oil for something that produces less healthy food (more than a chip already is..) that doesn't taste much different than an oven chip.

Same here, treat of the year is to go to Grandma's on Boxing Day for home made chips and leftover turkey as far as the kids are concerned!

We bought one recently as oven chips are gak. And frying anything in a pan, e.g. sausages/bacon always leaves a messy pan/cooker top.
Nothing better than a quality sausage or chips done in a deep fat fryer. And my understanding is that chips done this way actually contain less fat than those pre-oiled oven chips.

...and the fat gets airborne as vapour, blown out of the ventilation, and everyone downwind absorbs all the nasty fats into their bodies.

Most of you lot have never lived!
Best way to do chips, par boil some decent potatoes, chopped quite thick, par boil them in stock with extra salt and some rosemary, deep fry for 10 mins at 150c, let them rest for a few minutes, then crank the heat upto 190c and fry till crisp and golden.
Oven chips are for the unwise.
