Dog chip found in chinese food
Now I'm quite prepared to accept this is cobblers and nothing more than an urban myth but a client has told me through a copper mate of his that one of the local chinese restaurants is under investigation after a lady found metal in her meal.
She apparently complained but would not give up the piece of metal and later discovered that it was dog chip.
Now, if this was the case wouldn't the place be shut down immediately pending an investigation? We ate there on Monday - personally I find the food inedible slop but it wasn't our choice so I just had noodles. Wife had a couple of ribs which, thinking about it, did look quite small
If you google "Dog chip found.........." it auto-completes "in chinese food"
There was infact a confirmed incident many years ago in the next town where an investigation of a chinese restaurant found skinned and trimmed cats. The restaurant owner apparently tried to pass them off as rabbits.

It could also have been a chicken with an asbo.

Dog and cat id chips are the same as far as I know?
Scanning by a vet should identify the animal and the owner.
Sounds somewhat unlikely though.

In Korea rat burgers are on the local menu.
Freshly made, the cooks corner rats in the alleys , the vermin are thrown into sacks and smashed the living day lights out of .
The mangled bodies are stripped of their flesh and formed into burgers , BBQ'd and served on a bun.
I have this on the highest authority.

When I lived in Hatfield, 1 of the local perveyors of Chinese food was shut down for this thing. They got nailed as they had dog and cat hanging in their freezer. Felt sick as I ate there 1 week before they got shut down, and it certainly wasn't chicken.
On another note, a family friend went to Russia as part of his uni course in the eaarly 90's, walking through the market, he saw bags of meat labelled up as chicken. It wasn't chicken, they had rather stupidly left the paws on.

I'm not saying I believe it - well, not now anyway!
Its just the client said the person that told him was a copper and obviously coppers don't lie. I did say are you sure he wasn't having you on, but he was convinced.
Told the wife and she said she had heard something similar only yesterday but it was a different chinky and a bloke who was unwittingly eating spaniel in black bean sauce. To be fair though, I think ladies hair salons are where most urban myths are born (after internet forums)
If there was even a hint of truth in this they would close the chinky down ASAP - wouldn't they?

It isn't exactly illegal to eat dog or cat meat, just unacceptable in our society. Meat is animal and western society tries to disassociate the animal being eaten, cow - beef, pig - pork, hen - chicken, we also eat baby animals - lamb.
The Chinese are willing to eat anything on 4 legs bar the chairs and tables.

I call bull.
Given how cheap you can buy crap cheap meat for, why go to the bother of being seen catching a dog, butchering it and then disposing of the bones and collar.
