Took my car there years ago and they wanted to replace the whole braking system i.e. Servo, master cylinder, font pads, front discs, rear shoes, rear cylinder, front caliper and 3 new Tyres at around £1000 - car was worth £600. All it needed was an O ring in the master cylinder.
My company car goes to them though.

not seen the rogue traders from last night yet but i knew they were going to be on it because a family member works there and they were told before the show aired.
i'm seeing rogue traders in a different light now. they sent a car into kwik fit last year and everything was fine so they didn't bother doing a show on it. this time they sent over a hundred car into different branches across the country to find the few that would screw them. over 600 branches so what do you expect, odds are that some will be dodgy. no doubt that if you picked 600 random independant garages you would find a number that would be willing to screw you.
i don't use kwik fit myself because my step dad does all my work but i can see the advantage. if something does go wrong it's covered regardless where you are when it fails because they're like macdonalds, always one close by.
don't hate, just getting my view across

******* always want to replace parts when they dont need replacing, they treat old women like cash cows and generally try to rip anybody but mechanically minded males off, their bread and butter are lone female drivers!

Not read the thread or seen the program but i've had enough personal experience of various kwik fit branches to know they are all cr&p and will pull your pants down at any opportunity

Gave up on them 20 years ago. The Hull branch made a total hash of simple tracking because their machine was faulty, managed to get AA in there to prove it but they wouldn't replace the worn tyres that resulted apart from a 10% off voucher to let them have another go - no chance. Must have ruined a lot of other peoples tyres as well.

I was telling my missus about this program and she reminded me about her last car.
Went in for some new brake pipes for the MOT.
She picked up the car and drove away, as it turned out she was driving down to Hull straight from the depot (Newcastle area)
Off she went in her own little world, when she was close to Hull a funny little light flashed up on the dashboard, of course she had no idea what this was for, so carried on.
Arrived at Hull, and then started driving back a few days later, funny little light still on then her brakes apparently started acting "funny" (her words) she actually made it just about home, and was only a few miles away when the brakes packed in completely as she had no brake fluid left.
She rang me up, explained about the fully little light and that her brakes were broken.
We tried ringing the local branch to have them sort the problem, but they would not touch it, telling us we should take it back to the branch that did the job, it was my mates branch that initially did the work, although he was on holiday at the time.
Turns out the upper gaffers did not provide cover for him being away, so the other lads had to take up the slack, not enough men, not enough checks being done, the youngun had forgot to tighten up the brake pipe join
Mate was more than apologetic when he got back, not hit fault at all, but this is why they get a bad name.
The closest branch to us IMHO acted like total **** holes in not looking at the car, i have been at my mates site before when a customer has come in, had work done at another branch and is not happy, so my mate has whipped it up on the ramp and checked it over.
