Thumbs up FW: Petrol Boycott

Thought I'd be lazy and forward this on here, It would be quite interesting to see if it could work. I am going to boycott BP and Esso - Are you ??

================================================== ====

See what you think and pass it on if you agree with it. We are
hitting 95p a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying £1 a
ltr.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy petrol on a certain
day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil
companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.

BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can
really work. Please read it and join in! Now that the oil companies and
the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is
CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not
purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.
Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two
biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. If they are not
selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they
reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have
an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol
buyers.
It's really simple to do!! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...
keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of
people!!

I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it
to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)...and those 300 send it to at least
ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches
the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION
consumers!
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends
each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one
level further, you guessed it.....THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all.
(and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends
this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300
MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8days!!!
I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting
together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass
this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE RANGE.
It's easy to make this happen.

Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell, Asda, Tesco,
Sainsburys, Morrisons, Jet etc. i.e. boycott BP and Esso.

POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!!

Not this again! Didn't work the last 3 times they attempted it!

I only use Shell anyway!

Trouble is...where do you think Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury etc. get their fuel from???? It will be BP, Esso, Shell etc. Give it a go because I would love cheap fuel, just don't think it will make a difference.

A huge portion of sales for oil companies is stuff like Bitumen and Aviation fuel amongst others, forecourt sales make up such a small part.....and of course we all know that its the government with their huge taxes (about 75% I believe) that makes the fuel prices rise so much, isn't the portion for the oil company meant to be about 18p per litre or somthing ridiculous?

They seem to missing the fact that the SAME people will get the 'message' How dumb are some people. I mean, 300 million people, that's about as many times as this has been posted on here.

Why are people so stupid? Just stop for a minute, think about it and they'll realise what dumbasses they're being.

I wish it was all that simple. There is so much more to it these days - environmental protection, higher wages, higher costs all round.

Why don't we all stop flying too? We could all have holidays in this country and use coaches or trains to get to our destination. I wouldn't mind sitting (if lucky) on a train for 10 hours, next to a arrogant ****-head or somebody who hasn't washed for a couple of weeks, just to have a holiday in glorious Britain.

Where were the boycotts when the house prices went up? Did anyone call for people to stop buying houses? I'm just glad I bought a house before the crazy rise.

A car is sometimes a luxury. However, with the poor public transport they are a necessity for many to carry out their everyday business. We don't all want to spend 3 hours a day on public transport just to get to and from work.

Back on topic - stuff your boycotts, it will do nothing but hinder the people who don't have a choice.

I can't believe people are still blaming the oil companies!
Yes the recent few rises have been related to the price of oil and various other things, however 75% of the cost on fuel is tax!!
The government should be reducing the cost of tax on fuel to help the motorist but they are the ones rubbing there hands together!

£45 billion is robbed, sorry raised from the motorist each year, just think about that £45 billion! And how much of that money is put back into the roads!

Rob speaks the truth, some statistics I found a while ago while having a rant to myself about fuel prices.

For every £50 that goes in your tank £37 goes to the government. For the average family a 1 pence increase in fuel prices would cost that family an extra £46 per year.

The government spend approximately £6 billion on roads and local transport, but a staggering £36 billion is collected in road taxation

So basically 74% of fuel prices are tax

That £6 billion does not get them value for money either. The government are 'robbed' for the work that is carried out on the highways. Companies admit that they will charge at least double if it is council/goverment related.

I must ignore this thread now. It will only start me off.

Anyone care to guess or know how much fuel trains and smokey old coaches and buses use???
Not just us car drivers obviously - but I get sick of getting caught behind school coaches who choke me.

if we killed everyone that forward bull**** emails to each other (and killed the pets of those that then stick them on the internet) we would save more fossil fuel than ever.......................forward this to 100 people.

To really have an impact buy economical diesals and run them on cooking oil or sell your houseand go live in th third world where your vast equity gained over recent price rises will let you live an idillic life in a shack on a mountain in Kazakstan with no government inervention what so ever.
