Cornwall - Last Min Advice
Myself and HRH have some last min time off together and Cornwall has been suggested as the place to go, but money's tight due to impending house buy other stuff, so:
We're looking for somewhere for two both early 30's that's around £300 for 7 nights from this Friday.
No children, but be nice to have somewhere to relax but also things to do.
Any ideas, aren't there some S'Netters in that area?

Depends on what sort of activities you are looking to do. If you want to go out clubbing every night then somewhere on the outskirts of newquay or the porth area would suit you. Or if you fancy something a bit quieter with a few pubs and a bit of fishing padstow or mevagissey would suit you more.
The hotels and b&b's are starting to put their prices down now so you should get somewhere semi decent to stay for £300.

Funny that, me and the missus away for a week there next week, roughly the same issues. Wasn't planning on going as we've not got a great deal of spare cash as it's all going on our extension however the builders are attacking the bathroom next week so no toilet, shower, etc. They suggested if we were to have a holiday that would be a really good time for it
So got a holiday cottage for the week, shade under £300, from here: http://www.holidaycottages.co.uk/
We like walking, exploring, beaches, country pubs etc. so relatively low cost once we're there. Might give the Eden Project a visit though. Can't wait now.

Well, the weather's quite mild at the moment and the water is the warmest it'll be all year. The whole county is rather quiet now the kids have gone back but it's just starting the 'old gimmer' season. Most things are open. Obviously all the beaches are - but if you have a dog it won't be allowed on a lot of them.
You don't actually give us much to go on though ..... though personally I stay clear of Padstow from April through to October. Too many idiots after a 'Rick Stein' fish and chips. Even the wife admitted at the weekend that she was *over* the whole Rick Stein thing. She had a takeaway from him when we were in Falmouth. Me and the lad had chips from the Harbour Lights (Harbour Cafe? I forget) up the road and I thought they tasted much nicer. His Falmouth restaurant was almost empty too ...

We're after somewhere where we can relax and have some lazy time but also have something to do if required.
Doubt we'll be ventureing into the sea but you never know, the main thing is somewhere nice to walk.
I'd like to have a look round Tintangle (Spl)
Any ideas for things to do would be appreciated
Plus, I have heard that Newquay's can be a bit of a Stag/Hen/ town and someone compared it to Blackpool, is this true or does it just have a bad rep?

I wouldn't stay there but take a day trip if you're down (or an evening out ....). If you're after a larger town you could try Falmouth. Plenty of life (everything is relative in Cornwall though .... ) and near plenty of things to do. Not far to Truro, Newquay, the Lizard. Not too long a drive to Lands End/Sennen. Take the ferry across to St. Mawes (on foot) or drive up river and take the King Harry Ferry and explore the Roseland as well. Plenty of pubs to find en route for lunch.
If you like large greenhouses you could visit the Eden Project. Wasn't impressed myself. Very expensive food etc etc.
But then once you figure out your base you find out what's local and plan accordingly. Not that anything is too far from anywhere else in Cornwall. For example, Exeter to Indian Queens (the Newquay turnoff ffrom the A30) is an hour.
Proper job .......

Bonehead, if you fancy a hotel in Penzance rather than a cottage let me know (I maybe able to get you a good price). The same goes for it you fancy seeing Mounts Bay by boat - St Michaels Mount, sea fishing, ringo-ing etc
