Light-weight, cycle-mounted, automatic weapon needed!
Right. So you're out cycling, on the road as I'm doing it mainly for fitness and off-road means too much stopping/starting for me .... Anyhow, you get cars on the road as well. Strange that ......
You get the *good* ones. They wait until they can see the road is clear and pass you in the next lane. They merit a wave.
You get the *not too bad* ones who pass you anyway, even if traffic is coming the other way, fairly closely but far enough away that all is still well with the world. They get ignored.
You get the *suicidal ones*, usually older folk. They also pass you in the next lane giving you plenty of room. Trouble is you're coming up to a blind right hand bend which you can't see around on the bike so they, in the other lane, certainly can't. They merit a 'to55er' under the breath (no point shouting - they won't hear) or an 'oh sh}t I hope they don't hit anything coming the other way' ('cos I'd end up in the wreckage!!)).
Then there's the *complete, feckin, c@ntin', wan kin, **** wipe ..........* that nearly wiped me out! 4x4 towing a trailer with small speedboat on. Passes me mostly in the next lane. Then starts to move in again. BUT the bleddy boat is still level with me. It side swipes me on my right elbow (still got the bruise/friction burn now) and hip causing me to start to weave fairly violently but luckily I had a couple of feet spare on my nearside or it could have been very nasty. So there's me gesticulating (various numbers of fingers pointing in his (could have been a her - couldn't see) direction. Various sweary-type phrases output in their direction but did this *complete, feckin, c@ntin', wan kin, **** wipe ..........*stop? Did they heck!!!! The next two cars behind slowed and checked I was OK as they had seen what had happened, which was nice. Trouble is neither were police cars. And me going flat out for a mile or so wasn't enough to catch the *complete, feckin, c@ntin', wan kin, **** wipe ...........
So, suggestions please. Something that would have taken the whole car out and left nothing behind except a plume of smoke.....
And breathe ......
Dave

yep i've done that, nearly got taken out by a tw@t in an audi who overtook me as i was on the right hand side of the lane due to turning right at a roundabout that also had a car coming the other way. how i stayed on and didn't get hit i don't know but he had to stop at the roundabout so i managed to catch up with the idiot. after venting my anger at him and him just sat there laughing at me i went down the local plod shop and reported his no. they sent a couple of pc's round they said to tell him his no. had been reported for dangerous driving. don't know the outcome though which is a shame

Had a **** pass me once in a Mondeo. Coming up a fairly steep hill so not going more than 14-15Mph, just approaching a traffic island in the middle of the road when this idiot decides he can get between me and the island. Needless to say as he goes past me he's so close to miss the island that his nearside wing mirror catches me on the hip, almost knocking me off.
Her must of known he's clipped me as he was straight to looking in the mirrors to make sure he'd not knocked me off. I managed to compose myself and gave him the w4nker sign. Instead of just driving off he stops his car right in front of me and forces me to stop and demands to know why i'm giving him grief!!!!!!! Needless to say it all resulted in a huge slanging match in the middle of the road, with this idiot blaming me for not stopping to let him pass!!!!!!!!!!! Tell ya if i'd not been wearing cycling shoes with LOOK cleats i'd of chinned the mug.
Mostly people are ok passing cyclists but there really are a small minority who seem to want to get as close as possible. Either that or they simply fail to see you and roll on past in total ignorance of you being there

For the most part I find motorists ok. The ignorant nutters are fairly few and far between. A lot of them are pretty cautious and don't pass when they reasily could. still better than white van man getting red mist at sitting behind you for a couple of mins and then deliberately passing within a few inches of my bars , gunning his Transit!

Annoying and scary, I was indicating, arm at full stretch to turn right at a mini roundabout and some daft old bint in a manky Lupo goes past on the right, she had to go right onto the other side and then slams on in front of me, then crawlf across with me on her right hand side, gave her windows a good thump and woke the old **** up.
Nearly got mowed down by another old woman last winter, peering through aporthole in her frosty window, just enough to see her drinking a brew from a standard mug.
One tonight, BMW driver wouldnt give way on the same mini roundabout as mentioned earlier, I kept coming and he found some motivation to brake when he saw the Police Volvo behind me !

You gave chase
What were you going to do if you "caught" them? Get properly run over this time? Just not worth it, life moves on. Not worth going near them for a second time...

Didn't seem to have a plate on his trailer! That, or I couldn't see it with my eyes watering a bit with the wind in them (I must get myself some cycling glasses - Aldi have some cycling stuff cheap starting this Thursday - I'll look then).
Well, I was coming near to Ponsanooth from the Redruth side and knew that there is a long downhill into the village and then cars often have to stop to allow oncoming traffic through as they allow parking on the road. So a good hill for '40+mph' then traffic stops more often than not. Trouble was there was still a 1/2 mile of level/uphill road before the downhill bit so I lost him.
What would I have done? F' knows. But I wouldn't have *accosted* him/her unless they were at a stop waiting for traffic.
I suppose a pump-action 12-bore mounted on the handlebars would be a bit obvious ......

Get a video camera or 2
I have a decent w/proof one mounted on the handlebars and a Mini DV 80 (ebay £12) on my helmet. Then you have accurate and incontrovertable evidence for you to show to the police when you report it. Also useful in case of accidents.
Wear them every day when commuting to work
