its also the way that people read it and try to follow it spot on, but we could the same about other religions beliefs. i can understand some americans beliefs about this as they seem to be a nation that love the country they live in and have had some hard times because of the book but i'm not sure what this burning would really acheive.

It's clearly a bad move, especially as it appears to be a deliberate move to stir up trouble, however it's interesting that the authorities don't even condone the anticipated rioting/killings/violent protests by muslims - it's as if that reaction by them is just a given.
They are condoning the burning of a few books however, and blaming him for the trouble that results...

Are we saying Muslims are too dumb to distinguish between the opinions of one Pastor and the views of a whole society/country?

It's a small, insignificant, group of 50 people in a break-away church.
In just the same way that the Muslim Bombers are an insignificant group in the muslim world.
But burning a book is far less life threatening than slamming 2 aircraft into high rise office blocks!
This should not have any airtime at all ...... but, they should be allowed to express their opinions in burning the book, in just the same way that our flags are burned by others in far off lands!

Wont acheive anything apart from p1ssing more Muslims off, they are no better than those they are trying to antagonise, worse perhaps, they are all nutters anyway, any kind of fervent religous type.
Burning a book is no big deal, brn a Koran as a guilty pleasure but ffs dont tell the Muslims, they dont have much tolerance of such works, Muslim baiting seems to be a new extreme sport.

Im no fan of Islam, but burning their holy book, simply to **** them off; is something that only zealots in the backward American bible belt would consider.
These (Christian fundamentalist, and probably 'rapturists' too) fools frighten me just as much as the spread of Islam through the third world, and fundamentalism wherever it is found.

The fact is that massive parts of the Muslim world are sympathetic to the radicals. The problem is not skin deep and the radicals have a massive hold.

So why didn't the Muslims world mass protest 9/11 and the radicals when they protest mohammed cartoons and Koran burnings?

The idiots found in the bible belt are equally stupid, blinkered and backward; which is more of a worry in some respects - as they should know better.....
