He was allegedly uber efficient - so maybe he tagged and bagged himself shortly after death?

Someone goes missing from MI6 & it takes weeks to find him at his known address?????

I might be reading too much into this but I heard on the radio that he didn't work for MI6 and they couldn't be certain of the cause of his death...I read that as, he worked for MI6 and they absolutely do know the cause of his death!
