any spider enthusiasts , what the hell are these invading my house
over the past month there has been an influx of these bastid spiders invading my house , they seem to be getting bigger and bigger every time i find one and they are evil lookin fellas .
find them in the curtains , in my towels after ive had a shower . in the loo roll basket and i even had one crawl out from under my pillow the other night .
they are a yellow/light brown colour with hairyass legs and big things coming out of their heads , on close examination they seem to have a stinger to
they are so big that you can hear them trotting across the wooden floor when they scurry about .
now this is the scary part , the old owner of the house(a friend who has since moved away) used to own snakes and tarantulas and one did escape many years back and was never found . so could it be that these little ******* are lovechildren of this tarantula and that it is still lurking under the house somewhere ******** away with the moma spiders ??
i caught one this morning and put it in a wine glass , bearing in mind these are oversize glasses and the ****** is cramped up a tad
its getting to the point where im finding 3 or 4 a night now and i hate spiders with a passion .
can anyone shed some light on what kind they are. i can send a specimen of one free of charge

Jesus H Christ!! 3 or 4 a night? I'd be moving out. Up here you never used to see spiders like that in the house, but the last few weeks I've had to deal with about 4 that look quite like that. They're the biggest spiders I've seen in the UK anyway, and I hate the bastids! It's my only irrational fear so I feel your pain.

At a guess, maybe because conditions happen to be better for them this year than they have in previous years? I caught two like these in the house last year, but before that (and up until recently) I've never seen a spider that size in my house. Have seen them in b&bs down south, but that's about it. Obviously it will be warmer down south, so better for them.

Another time I had to use a pyrex bowl to trap one.... the pint tankard still didn't span his legs!.. Threw him out the 1st floor bedroom window and I heard it hit the lawn.... was waiting for it to knock on the door to be let back in...

Right, I took this with a pinch of salt but my missus' mate keeps conkers in all the corners of the house, by the front and back doors, anywhere they can get in really. It did the trick for her and she swears by it.....

Our campsite was littered with these "little" b4astards.
About 4" from toe to toe (front to back)
Prob harmless... but still sent shivers down my spine... especially as this one was outside the men's toilet... right over the exit

I thought you had the perimiter of your property sprayed in Australia to keep the creepy crawlies out?
Do they get inside your house?

Redbacks in the house, yes. We take preventive measures but still get a few. Redbacks are a webbing spider so find a home in nooks and crannies and rarely stray from that. So, at my place, if a redback makes a home that won't be disturbed by 'traffic' then, live and let live. Anywhere else, no more redback.

I wonder what the fear/phobia of spiders is all about? Could it be something that's naturally built in through evolution because of past experiences with spiders that can f*ck you up?

Just get a Cat, ours finds it great fun to chase them round the living room carpet for a few minutes and when he's bored he stands on them and leaves the corpse for us to clean up lol

[QUOTE=Camoscooby;9563998]Nevermind the bullets and bombs........look at what our boys have to deal with in Iraq/Afghanistan...........
Apparently they are 'camel' spiders maybe because they eat camels
I'd proper sh*t myself if that thing went running across my living room.
