I think a fly went in my beer. Should I drink it while it is still cold, or drink a different one now and wait for the fly to drown (while the beer warms up )

That is a bit extreme... I just want to know if it will be better (OK less worse )cold and living or warm and dead. I think not drinking it would be sheer snobbery, (and probably flyist once the PC brigade get in)Ali - I though of that, but what if it already swallowed some.... would be a bit of a waste really?

Extreme maybe, but I just couldn't do it.
If someone held a gun to my head, cold and probably/hopefully dead would be the way I'd go. Don't think I'd ever be that drunk or desperate to make that choice though.
Doesn't matter now, you've probably downed the little bugger either way.

It wasn't little. It was a big fat bluebottle. I wouldn't have given a little one a second thought.
Just for information, I went for cold and still living. It was a bit chewy and the wings got stuck in my teeth.... you know when you eat corn on the cob? Like that but less yellow.
Next time I will probably put it back in the fridge and keep it for brekkie

Are you certain it was dead, perhaps you should pop a spider in tonight's beer just to be safe!
This has got the potential to turn into quite a long thread I think!

Noooooooooooooooooo..........
I'm, too flaming late the fly's body temperature is a constant 70 degrees therefore the warming process of the beer will be accelerated far beyond what you're anticipating.... in fact dependant upon actual body mass you may find that it slowly starts to boil your larger.
I would therefore recommend that you wear oven gloves and use a large metallic spoon to extricate the fly from the fluid before the glass melts.

I would have treated with the contempt it deserves - after all, they're pretty feckin agile when YOU want to swot it, yet because of its **** up, it landed in your beer. Pretty irresponsible imho
I'd have scooped the drunk/careless little **** out........ and smashed it with the bottom of the glass.
As a lesson to all them other flies. That'll learn em.
