Fitness people...250 press ups
Spread out over the day.Any good or do you have to kill yourself and do it all in one go??
Trying to get fit/tone up a bit/mid life crisis. Can't be doing with gyms and the like and 50 press ups here and there as and when isn't so painful!!
Probably easier if I just stopped drinking beer
So,do you really have to get into a psycho half death/no pain no gain routine?
Cheers

I usually do about 40 in one go, limit about 50 at the moment. 250 ought to be achievable, but not in one go! That said, I once did 200 situps in one go a couple of years ago having previously only managed 100. You seem to reach a point where it feels like you can go on and on until you get bored.

I think if you just use the 1 finger per hand to hold yourself up then it'll take 15 mins. or so. But use the whole hand and, say, just over 4 mins. at 1 per second ....
And I never BS on SN either .....

PS: but check out some of these guys ..... http://www.recordholders.org/en/reco...challenge.html

We did the push up challenge at work not too long ago.
Do as many push ups as you can @ 8am. For example you do 100
Then every hour you do 20% of your max. So 20 an hour. Do this till 8pm.
Then the 2nd day repeat the process, however you now do 50% every hour.
The 3rd day, you up the hourly rate to 80%
The 4th lower to 40%
The 5th lower to 10%
I thought i was going to die on day three, seriously!! To the point of almost chucking my guts up! You fear every hour.
However after two months, we found our maximum push ups went up about 50%!!!
It isn't easy, but you can't get fit on the sofa.
Needless to say i can do lots of push ups, but i still have a belly. So a diet and sit ups are now on the cards.
I'm getting married next year, and don't fancy being rolled down the isle!!

Press ups are good, but you want to be running or cycling to loose weight ..

Get your **** down the gym every other day and spend 30 mins doing MIT / HIT depending on your current fitness levels. That will reduce your body fat levels. Then move on to the free weights to improve muscle mass.
There is no such thing as toning, its called building muscle.
Change your diet, eat clean. Weight loss / getting in shape is 50% exercise 50% diet.

Whats the point of doing 250 press ups? You need to do a bit of everything or you will just overwork certain muscle groups and either burn out or look ridiculous.

Try an army fitness programme, run, sit-ups, press-ups, heaves. Or go to a gym, do a MINIMUM 45 minutes CV work and at least 45 minutes weights. That way you burn fat and increase CV capability and build muscle too.

depends if u do them alot. not blowing my own trumpet but id say thats pretty easy, even if ur not fit u could bang out 20, shake out, then keep going untill ur doing sets of 3. my bro and i sometimes do a bronson at the gym or park after a run and see how long it takes. about 30-40 min id say.

Until you get used to them, start slowly.
start off doing 30 in the morning then 30 at nite for 1 week then 60 in the morning, 60 at night then after 3 weeks you should be able to manage 100 in the morning and 100 at nite
Once you cam manage that,do 100 using both hands and then do 10 with each hand on its own then the next week 15 upto about 20,no more than 20 on a single hand should be needed
