Default Thickness of an external wall?

Sorry I'm bombarding the forum with questions today but....

What is the thickness of an external wall built to current regs? I've measured the wall of my rear extension which was done about 4 years ago and its approx 1 ft. Its a brick, insulation, breeze block and then sand and cement finish construction.

Thanks

Ok.

External brick is 102mm wide
Cavity usually 100mm
Block usually 100mm wide
Plaster 13mm (or dot and dab which will be similar depending on what board they have used say 9mm + 2mm skim)

Total 315mm.

There is no standard firstly.

It is all down to whether a building is structurally sound and for new build houses meets building regulations which encompass minimum insulation values.

Basically that sounds about right as you would have a brick 4 inch, block probably 4 inch plus gap for insulation which will be 2/3 inches but normally 4 then the sand and cement which I guess is internal if you have bricks on the outside. Thus a foot is about right. This could vary by a couple of inches depending on what insulation used. It would be standard kingspan at a guess in the extension you describe so 4 inch cavity.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, so basically 315mm = 1ft. Just wanted to make sure that was still about the 'norm'.

Hi mate in document A of the building regs normally a cavity wall is:

100mm Face brickwork
75mm Cavity
100mm Blockwork
12mm Plasterboard

And whatever finish on top of that paint/wallpaper etc.

Hope this helps.

Would it not go on the material used?
ie if stone was used that would all go to pot?
