Cool All Terrain Segways

What a cracking idea - enviro friendly way of seeing lots of forest though obviously not as fun as cycling.

I want one

And whats the point? I fail to see the attaction myself.

If you was that sort of thing, use a quad, but in either senario your not going to see anything, or if you want to see stuff, use your feet (and get some exercise)

I have always wanted to try one of those things out. Saw a disabled bloke doing his shopping on one-looked just the job to me. He said it did a lot for him.

Green-laning for gheyers imho!

Get a quad or an enduro bike for green laning, not a leccy, lean-able kids scooter!

Lol!
usually when i get home from a little green laning on the quad i pick whats left of the mountain bikers and their poncy bikes from my tyres and suspension! just like most real men who ride bikes with engine or quads off road. (says the 2009 rockhopper pro owner)

OK anyone who thinks a Segway is a good idea - this is just how cool you will look on one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oocjt...eature=channel

BELIEVE!

How stable are those quads? I always get the impression that they are just looking for an excuse to fall over!

How fast and aggressively and over what terrain you you want to ride one is the answer

I have one, covered some 1500 miles 75% road 25% off road. It is like riding a motorcycle in a lot of ways, you need to get your weight and center of balance in the right place and the right time when cornering or you could indeed fall off or it tip if you where carrying too much speed - like a bike really.

I ride mine hard from time to time on and off road conditions permitting - not fallen off yet (oh tempting fate here i know) and it can be a hell of a work-out, on or off road but rewarding when you get it right.

It will never handle as well as a bike but feels stable to around 70mph - my quad's top speed.

If you remember it is an off road vehicle and compare it to say an enduro bike then i guess they are pretty similar in terms of grip and ride-ability, even top speed, it will never set and records cornering on road or speed wise but comes alive off road and is so much fun.

Thanks for all that Paul. Its just that they do look as though they might be unstable, but I realise of course that the way you ride it and move your weight around is the secret. All my similar experiences are on 'bikes of course, incuding a fair bit of scrambling so I got used to falling off as you might imagine. I bet it gets a bit hairy if you do any kind of competition on the quads though.

Went on a forest tour in Austria this year on all terrain segways. Cost was 46 Euro's for a 30 min practice session followed by an hour's tour. Had a great time on them.

Wouldn't buy one, but as a fun thing too do on holiday it was great.

Those Austrians don't sell themselves short then. At least they smile as they take your money though!
