Default Help with my SKY

Hi people we had a little storm in sunny essex today and since my sky was working now telling me i have a technical fault with the channel, i go to check most channels and there all the same. SKY's customer services is a no no as my girlfriend waited for 30 mins before getting cut off. anyone help?

Turn it off at the mains, leave 30 seconds then turn it back on again.

have tried, tried everything other than getting upto dish and throwing box out of window

If after resetting everything you still get the same problem then the chances are it is the lnb on the dish, these are only plastic and are not waterproof and are powered by 9v from the box, used to work for sky as engineer and was always out replacing these after a good storm or heavy rain...

heavy cloud could be blocking the signal or maybe a technical fault with sky hence the high number of callers to their helpdesk?

Man who angry with Sky make Sky angry, make big thunderstorm make Sky not work !

Was a lot of rain and some big **** thunder !

Had the same with mine yesterday actually. The switch off and switch on again thing worked for me but as above, sounds like it could be lnb's buggered. Hope it's sorted soon, although I'm the opposite of a fan of Sky's so called customer service, lol

Expect more problems today.
There was a massive C class solar storm recently. This caused two coronal mass ejections to head towards the Earth. The second CME should hit us today.

Could be a burst of EMP from the storm which can damage the box via the aerial. Same sort of thing happens to routers or modems with EMP on the phone line from an electrical storm.
