Dont get Angry Birds. Wasted far too much of my time playing that game. Every time I get around to completing ever level on 3 stars they bring another one out. Althought must say the last one (lvl9) was a lot easier to do.
Facebook, Amazon, Imdb, Tubemap is handy when in London.

I have blooming everything on my phone
But here are a few top 20/30 in categories
News - Telegraph, sky, metro (in case I have not got my free one in the morning) and ITN
Social - facebook, IM, skype and Fring
Games - too many to mention but solitaire, warships (battleships for the iphone and you can play against other users ), flick football (drives me mad ), toobz, tap defense and of course flight control
Photo- photobucket, flickr and phonegrafer
Travel - around me, tube map, meter maid (to stop me getting parking tickets) and HA traffic
Search - yell.com, google, shazam and wikipedia
And finally without doubt the best most useful app
My Phone Desktop.
Allows you to send long long sms, documents and images that you have typed out or on your desktop machine and then send them to your phone to forward on. works on windows, mac and through your browser
Just a few to be getting on with

"Rock Band" is awesome and wasted 2 weeks of my holiday, get the free lite version and try first, full version is £3.99.
"iMovie" is a great and simple movie editing app, add pics, add text, clip the lengths, add music, export to 720p hi def. £2.99, not perfect but very, very good... for a phone.
Just downloaded the new BBC news app, which is pretty good for free.
"Angry birds" is great, then really great, then fantastic, then bloody annoying! :-)
"Canabalt" is a good time waster, free.
"Backbreaker" is a pretty cool game, free.
If you want a game to invest (waste) time on, try "Build-a-lot", free.
"Traffic Rush"
"Talking Tom"... daft! :-)

Motion X GPS, get the free version.
TouchPad, turns your iPhone into a TouchPad. Might be Mac only, doesn't require software on your machine.
iNet, awesome little network scanner.
WeatherMaps, if you're into weather.
RedLaser is now free, worth a go.
Go to tvcatchup.com and add that to your homescreen.
Currency and Translator are both free and good for travel
Skype is a must have, especially now it backgrounds.

Yes its much better.
No, they don't get their info from the Met office. They (MeteoGroup) produce their own analysis of the data and are world wide resource
www.meteogroup.eu
Meteogroup also produce the weather data for Formula one
