Default The Sunday dinner thread

So, come on then.

Who's having what, who's cooking it and where are you eating it?

I'll be off to the mothers for roast beef and all the trimmings

I bought a huge beef joint yesterday and cooked it last night.
Half of it has gone as the family could not resist it

Don't have Sunday roast dinner, haven't for about 3 years or so. Takes so long to cook, I'd rather be doing other things, especially when it's hot.

That usually happens at my mums.

She cooks two chickens now as by the time everyone has had a pick, there's nothing much left.

It's not hot here, and only takes an hour or so to cook if it's all prepped the night before.

But I know what you mean, it's still a few hours out of the day, and if you don't like cooking (like me) it can seem like a real chore sometimes.

Prep the night before? I was recovering from a mountain bike ride last night. I'm not really wanting to spend my Saturday night prepping veg, even though I am a sad person who doesn't go out much!!!

I do a roast dinner once a year - at Christmas....

I have a pork shoulder joint in the slow cooker, an hour before serving I'll shred it up and mix in a bottle of BBQ sauce, then back in the slow cooker. We'll have it with baked spuds and coleslaw.
A traditional roast is a lot of effort just for two of us - by the time I've cooked it I don't feel like eating it!

As a matter of intrest , surely only a women ( or a bloater ) would be thinking about 'dinner' at 10 in the morning , right

Was none of 'the other' on offer this morning

I don't always do them the night before, even though with two kids, sat night isn't the 'boozing down the pub' it used to be.

I had people round for a curry last night, so prepping veg for half an hour wouldn't be appropriate. But usually it takes half the time without the rugrats at my feet needing juice, a cuddle, a wee or something else as important. Lol
