OK, so i have attempted to make a couple of songs over the last few days, one of which is trance. It is still in the very early stages and lacks a main synth, vocals (and a vocalist for that matter) percussion, effects, EQ and mastering and "oomph".
It is only 2 minutes long as i have just arranged it so i can let people get the idea. It has a quick intro, quick first breakdown, and then it kicks back in. the next step would be the main breakdown where the main synth develops and any vocals if i put some in.
So if you could have a listen and give me any feedback i would greatly appreciate it.
Oh and go easy because i am still a noob at this

Now I am no expert,
Im thinking some distortion or other effects, pick up the tempo a little at some point and when the music pauses come back in a bit harder, perhaps a key change and some pitch bendy stuff, it needs to build as it is its very nice but doesnt go anywhere.

Yeah I agree when It comes back In it does need more but at the moment I haven't created anything to create a big drop. So call it a foundation for a trance track. Hopefully within two weeks I will have something closer to a finished track.

Hi m8 if you using Ableton Live use gating drums with bassline. In most tracks you don't need vocals(i never use vocals in my track, here is my profile on Soundcloud http://soundcloud.com/dreamcatcher-1 ),and try use more percussions(im using only from Sample CD Vengeance),try use gate noises with drums or bassline, distortion its great on leads or bassline,if you have pre-recorded vocals use Vocoder.Im using only Reason 4 with Ableton Live,Cubase 5(everything Re-Wire).

Well as I said, it has no leads nor any vocals, I just wanted to makesure that as a start it sounded ok. If you took most songs from today, removed the vocals and main leads It would too sound very boring. Thank you for your feedback.

It's here... or will be later, got to go to work Chris.
Dude, pm me if you want and we'll chat Trance, as a couple of characters on here like to deliberately contest what I say about music regardless of what that opinion is

In terms of dance music then its firstly dnb, jungle etc. Though not complicated there is something about the way the beats come together that make it exciting, fast and make you tap your feet (or make boxes with your hands)
I've always liked reggae, so when you combine the dnb with reggae/ragga you get jungle and thats why I like that. There is something about the sort of music that has been posted here that just makes me want to go to sleep, I just get the feeling that no real effort has been made, it sounds lazy.
To me, this kind of music (trance if thats what it is) has been a step backward in the evolution of dance music. I'm probably a lot older than you, and have followed dance music from about the time of original electro/breakbeat ie Africa Bambaata, Man Parrish etc.
Here are a few of my fave dnb tunes. Please try and listen to them elsewhere as you can't really hear the bassline or half the details on youtube. Without the bassline these tunes don't sound the way they are meant to, its like half the song is missing.
Do listen all the way through, because they all have long intro's.
