Anyone know what the goalpost type things are on building sites ?? noticed these on a number off occasions are normally something like 30 foot high and in a red/white striped colour, normally two off them.

any ideas anyone ?? cant for the life off me work out what they are used for ??

Are they not to route mains or comms cables across the driveway?

they are only there if there are overhead cables, to warn high vehicles

they are sometimes used to test the hight of vehicles leaving the site - so they know if they can fit under local bridges.

More to do with height restrictions on site, for a vehicle to leave site it has already arrived has it not? unless of course the vehicle in question was built on site

Perfect appreciatte the replies guys, as I say had not a clue what purpose they served, had another look at them tonight, they are probably only around 20 odd feet in height and facing each other around 80 feet apart.
