Sincere best wishes for the World Cup. It will be a tall order but they must be in with a good shout if the players perform to their potential.

England won't win. Quarters, maybe semis, but they won't win.
For some reason they never fulfil their potential. Strange really. I could be wrong, but I doubt it

Maybe because some people ( the media being the biggest) apply extra pressure on the team by hyping them up before a ball is even kicked?

If this is genuine, and i hope it is, its the first/last time I expect to hear this from a Scott.
Was up in Edinbrough a couple of years ago for an England / Sweeden Quallifer. Met up with some Sweeds in a bar to wach the game and they were the quietest ones there when Sweeden scored. Before this if Scotland were playing I hoped they'd win, now though win or loose I don't care. Sod 'em and most of thier fans Chants of 'Fukc the English' as I walked down Princess St that night

Nothing to do with the team its as Dunk says its just all the other sh@t we have to listen to.
We have a sweep at work to see how long it takes to mention 1966 during englands first match.

Being honest 'most' of us dont dislike or even have anything against the English, I have quite a few friends from South of the border, it's just that everytime the world cup or the Euros come round we get pretty sick of all the Hype on surrounding it all on TV (we get the same TV and ad's you do) so most of it is irrevelant to us but it's rammed down our throat so much on the lead up to a world cup it starts getting a bit bloody annoying TBH.

The problem is that the media drive the crazy positivity every time, and we fall for it. Im being very guarded about my opinion of how we will do.
As for John Barnes, 'Youve got to hold and bite but do it at the right time' , it looks like he does it all the time!

Differences being of course Man U actually has a decent team and a global brand. Go to africa or any far flung part of the world and you will find kids and adults in Man U shirts who know who the team are. Go outside Glasgee and try to find Rangers top or someone who would recognise one and you'll be lucky.
Man U stand a good chance of getting out from under their debt

Rangers will be fine - no Scottish clearing bank would take the risk of either pulling the plug, or being seen to be allowing it to fail.
Celtic were in the same position in the early 90's. Literally ten minutes from receivership - but the bank realised that it wasn't worth the pain and had a change of heart
