England FLags....
with 'ENGLAND' written on them...WTF??
I know I'm an increasingly grumpy old man, but why on earth does the flag of St George require defacing in the name of football? Is writing ENGLAND on it the only way that some moronic football fans can recognise their own nations flag?
BTW come on England

I always wonder if those tracksuits say 'Bench' across the bum to remind the owners how to sit down
And is this advising of the contents....

St George is not exclusive to England!
Many Patronages of Saint George exist around the world, including: Aragon, Austria, Catalonia, England, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, and Russia, as well as the cities of Amersfoort, Beirut, Fakiha, Bteghrine, Cáceres (Spain), Ferrara, Freiburg, Ljubljana, Pomorie, Preston, Qormi, Rio de Janeiro, Lod, Barcelona, Moscow, Tamworth and the Maltese island of Gozo. Probably others I have missed.
I see no problem with people having ENGLAND on their George Cross flags.

Troll??
What are you talking about you buffoon?
If you haven't got anything to say on this thread then please go away. Anyway whats wrong with the question I asked, couldn't you find a reason to show your inadequacy by posting up another picture of your gun collection?
Please please please just go away

I drove through one of the more 'interesting' parts of Maidstone at the weekend taking a short cut and one of the streets was just covered from window to window and door to door with flags and banners. It looked, well it's hard to describe accurately what it looked like to be honest.
I am football mad and can't wait for the World Cup but I see absolutely no reason to cover my car in flags or worse drape them all over the front on my house. Surely you can support your country without having to deface your property? In fact the only reasonable visual support for me is wearing the England shirt if you need to display your support at all (which I don't as the cost of an England shirt is outrageous).

I've got one flag I bought from Tesco's for £1.50. Has england across the centre of it, and I'll be putting it up either in my back spare bedroom where I keep my DJing stuff, or hanging outside the front bedroom window, just like I did in 2004 and 2006.
See no issue with supporting my nation without going o.t.t.
Certainly won't let anyones opinion on here hange my mind of how to support my nation team during the World Cup, especially Martin
Thats about as civilised and tolerant as I get

Funny, go to France, Germany, Spain, etc and they do the same, fleags everywhere, ovver houses hanging out of cars. Heaven forbid that thier team wins and they drive round pi$$ed as f@rts, waving flags out of the window honking thier horns to the small hours. No one bats an eye or yells you daigo/frog/sausage eating chavs.
Displaying you countries/teams flag is just fine by me, having the name of your team on it as well, no big deal really in the scheme of things is it.
it is however somewhat sad and indictive of a lack of any real life that it is picked up on and posted on the internet really
Perhaps would be better on one of the English apologist and hand wringing boards where you can apologise about anything like the empire, slavery, being British/English and showing/displaying the cross of St George or the sinking the Belgrano or as i like to remeber it as 'GOTCHA' day etc.

The original points from the OP are what my comments are aimed at however whilst we are on the subject i wonder how many people running up to Christmas drive past houses and town cwentres all covered from top to toe in christmas lights and decorations and think they are OTT, tasteless, and the home of thugs or just some fun and getting into the spirit of the occasion. Not everyone does it admittedly but what is it these days with a bit of harmless fun

Nothing is wrong with it, it's a matter of taste and opinion. In a comparison to my example above I walked past a house this morning with a single flag hanging out a bedroom window in a street where there were no other flags. I didn't think what a tosser or that looks sh!te, it's probably a kid/teenager looking forward to the WC. I think that there is a line where it goes from being a bit of fun/kids supporting England etc to OTT where entire streets are completely covered. Again not saying it's wrong, just not to everyone's taste I guess.
I also find it slightly bizarre the streets i've seen most covered are the ones with the poorest housing in Maidstone and you'd think they'd have better things to waste their money on, like booze and ****

Errmmmm did you actually read my post??
I'm not the least bit fussed about flying the flag, I was just curious at the oddness of having 'ENGLAND' embazened upon and England flag, afterall the very point of a flag is to be the symbol of a nation, i.e. no need for text.
That the one and only point I was making, sorry to **** on your parade, but there is no argument here

A professer has found after extensive research there are two sizes of penesis in the uk men. There are those that fall within the normal size range and those which are less than two inches while erect. The professor has appealed for help to continue his research. Could all men in the uk with extremly small penises make themselves known over the next six weeks by flying a white flag with a red cross from their cars.
