He was elected, he scored more votes than the others, so by definition in a "first past the post" electoral system he was first past the post.

Please dont give me proportional representation as a viable alternative, its the same as communism, idealistic on paper and unworkable in reality.

Do you know, I would have been gutted if the two losing parties had ended up running the country.
It would have been morally wrong.

He never got past the post. The post was 326 seats. He got 306 (with one to come).

Why can't people see that?

He's got over the line by enlisting the Lib Dems to help. Nothing wrong with that, but he didn't win the election!

he has, cus he was the leader of the party (elected leader) and he has more members as MPs than any other party... and that is how our democracy works when 1st past the post isn't acheived.

the post was not 326 seats, the post is:

post = number of seats held by next best party + 1

To form a majority govt. would require 326 seats.

Well to be fair once the accountants have a good look at the books it will be seen that double posting on SN is actually Brown's fault - after all everything else is

Where does it say though shalt have 326 posts to govern?

It's time for a change so I'm glad he's finally seen sense & fooked off!

well as I said on another thread

lets get a load of highly paid consultants in to show us how to save money and tell us what state we are in (by doing everything bar getting rid of highly paid consultants)

it will be a good start, by a parliament now filled with managment consultants

Well , we'll only now see how good a job (or not ) Gordan has done to safeguard the economy

I decided at the end you certainly couldnt doubt his commitment , not happy in the spotlight obviously

...we'lll jus have to see whether the Tory boys and liberals can come up with something better fro the economy
