DVD recorder stuck in standby - fixes?
I'm trying to get a Panasonic SA-RT 70 DVD recorder to come out of standby mode.
I've read the manual several times, which suggests using the power button on the unit instead of the remote, this was negative.
I've also tried holding in the power button on the main unit for 10 seconds, as sugested, in case the unit has activated a safety mode. This was also negative.
There is power to the unit, as indicated by the power LED. The unit sounds like it is trying to turn on as it makes a slight noise as if the laser is being moved.
At the moment the Panasonic website is down, so I cannot get further support from them, plus google has not revealed any answers.
Any ideas?

Yes. I have even left it unplugged for 6 months!
Sadly not.

Probably buggered, doing a google on Panasonic DVD recorders will reveal that they aren't as reliable as the brand would imply. You'll find plenty of people across the world with knackered 2yr old recorders; Me included (U61 error - very common).
After getting it assessed by a local repairer and being quoted £210 to repair it, I complained to Panasonic UK, who replied requesting a copy of my reciept. After some deliberation, they are repairing on good will; Parts for free and me just having to pay the labour, which was just £30.
