What on earth is happening in Blackpool?

What on earth is happening in Blackpool?
Was over there yesterday driving the wife again to another of her meetings. Spent an hour or so driving the full length of the front from the Tower, north almost to Fleetwood, and then back and south almost to Morecombe.
And I couldn't get near the sea. The tramlines are up almost all the way, plus the old Starr Gate carpark is gone, being replaced with something, I know not what, it didn't say, but futuristic looking?
Will it all be finished in time for the season proper? Because it looks like a dog's dinner at the moment.
And who owned the old holiday camp south of the pleasure beach?

The whole place is being redeveloped. The parts they have revealed really are pretty impressive, its high time they invested some money back into the town itself instead of wasting it on nicer coloured lights for people to look at for free.

Didn't find it THAT bad, tbh, we found a really nice cafe in the streets away from the front, full English breakfast for £3.70, excellent too.
Now if you want grim.........
Come east to lovely Cleethorpes, or have a look round MY home town, which has the dubious honour of being so bad, even internet sites sensor it's name

Where is all the money coming from? Why is Blackpool being re-developed when we are talking about cuts in the NHS and education?
Seems strange.... although it is greatly needed there

I hope it's being funded by the Polish, Lithuanian, Romanian etc etc governments, as that's all that seems to live there. My auntie has lived there since the 1960's and has seen it decline into a holding pen for unemployed immigrants in recent years.

What on earth is happening in Blackpool?...
... hopefully the place is burning to the ground - only way to improve it I reckon. I worked there for a while a couple of years ago - good place to visit for a day or two with the kids but miserable to live there!

I got engaged in Blackpool in 2001 and I didn't think it was that bad, I went back last October when I was visiting my sister and the place was dead and everything had shut down I was really saddened by that because the place looked a mess and I have fond memories of it because of that weekend in 2001 so I hope it does get redeveloped.

I have very, very fond memories of Blackpool and I also hope the change is for the better

We were in the lakes at the end of last summer and popped down there for a day, what a big mistake, it was awful! The dirtiest black hole i've ever come across. We left by lunchtime as we couldn't find anywhere to eat (unless you wanted a fry up). They should give up now and shut the whole place down.
