iPad - Woohoo!
Standing in the Apple Store sending this from an iPad - very slick and very easy to use.
Yes it is like a giant iTouch but that is no bad thing - in many ways more usable.
Nice and yes I will buy one!!

David,
Sorry, I didn't give my little review of the iPad for you. Alas I've been rather busy over the past couple of weeks, something to do with some silly new device or something
Right now I think they aren't too bad for reading on (using the Kobo app of course). I've read The Lost Symbol on it without any eye strain and I'm re-reading Use Of Weapons. An eInk device (yes, we have one of those coming too ) would be kinder on the eyes.
I'm not totally convinced by the wi-fi version. If you're always near wi-fi then that's ok, but, for example, on the train to and from work there is no wifi, so no browsing or other activities requiring a network. I know I could use MyWi on the iPhone to setup an ad hoc wifi hotspot and then get the iPad to use that, but it's a serious drain on the iPhone's battery.
The downside of the 3G one is having another data plan, PAYG or not it's still another plan, and when I've got a 6GB per month bucket on the iPhone which I hardly touch (maybe 100 - 200 MB a month) it galls me to pay to use data on the iPad, hence why tethering would be nice, but Steve has said no

*sigh*
Buy a netbook or a laptop, cannot see the point in getting one of these. Too big to be totally portable, no proper keyboard for typing. Laptops/netbooks also have lids that close nicely to protect the screen. Not sold on this gadget, but since its from Apple I am sure it will sell well.
iPhone is a different matter though, they are quite nice. I am reasonably tempted. Thing I really don't like about Apple is all their restrictive business practices to enhance profits...like the tethering thing. Oh, and banning flash
Here seems to be a nice review of the device.

Because netbooks are nasty little devices and a laptop is much bigger and heavier.
The one thing that surprised me about the iPad is that is feels heavier in the hand than I expected. Not really heavy but solid.
The thing that I really liked was Books - very easy to read, really clear. I normally need reading glasses but I can read the book really easily without glasses - a boon. Really nice to use.

I'm mid 4 day overland journey from Istanbul, I have the iPhone in my hand, a book in the back of the chair and my laptop taking up space in my rucksack, the iPad would have made this difficult trip a little easier. Can't wait.

Nice, can't say that I will but nice to know I can.
Ant, people will say it's too much trouble carrying a keyboard to use with the iPad. Sometimes a few less devices is a good thing. Like the ten times I woke my mate up to get to my bag, oh and I've just left a perfectly good book on the coach!!
The iPhone has been great mind Trivial Pursuit went down a treat, imagine that on the iPad.
One more thing, watching movies was impossible on my laptop, not enough space to open it, iPad wins again.

look ridiculous imo
it looks like a big version of an IPhone and made the guy look like an even tossier version of Dom Jolly with his oversized phone

Dom Jolly made a huge iPad and filmed that old skit again. Bet a tenner he buys one though. Don't forget how silly straight trousers looked when flairs were the in thing. Just like your leg wear you'll get used to tablets.

showboat - moi?
the problem I have with alot of technology (and my big problem with the Iphone in particular and other multifunction devices in general is the pathetic battery life) is that they add functionality that I may or may not need and severly dilute the fundementals of the product.
we are rolling out the latest Cisco IP telephony -- great and will alow me to have a "soft" phone on my Corporate laptop - with all the advantages of mobility etc
except for one crucial thing - as a phone used for simple verbal communication they are ****

iPad's are not officially for sale outside of the US until "The end of May". There isn't anything stopping people from going to the US, just as we did, to get them though, therefore allowing them to appear elsewhere in the world. We've got at least six floating around the office in Toronto, not to show off with (ok, perhaps a little) but because we actually need them for development purposes.
