Default Its been 6 months now that i gave up smoking.

I have used patches all the way through and apart from eating instead of smoking it has been easier that i imagined.

It is only now that i have stopped having cravings. I still use the patches but not every day. Sometimes i forget to use them and i feel fine.

I definitely recommend giving up. Smokers stink.

Has anyone else managed to kick the habit?

If someone is behind me and they have been smoking i feel sick. You notice it more when you have given up. Its nice to go out for the night and your clothes dont stink in the morning.

Quit in one day after smoking a pack a day for fifteen years...

...that was five years ago. Very easy once I decided to stop. When I see people smoking and remember I used to be a smoker it really surprises me!

I stopped for 5 months I tryed the chewing gums but the gave me sore throat so I done a cold turkey my mrs banned me smoking in the house. All my friends were smokers that didn't help so I started again as work and everything wasn't going well.

Patches didn't help me at all. Can't recall any side effects, apart from feeling very down but I think that was more the trying to give up than the patches. It is said certain ones can cause nightmares, friends have had this problem.

There are drugs available, but they come with some risks as well. I tried one and had to be taken off it. It wasn't really working anyway for me. I think my problem was not really wanting to quit. If you really want to, you will or you'll find a way that suits.

Might be worth chatting with your GP or going to one of those groups for more advice.

Good luck Mus.

SS really well done I've never smoked as I've always hated it with a passion.

You are right though smokers do smell really nasty.

Well done misses

I couldnt have done it without them.

If you wear them in bed you get very lucid dreams and cant sleep much so i take mine off about 30 mins before i go to bed. I had rood dreams when i forgot to take my patch off.

For those that say the patches dont work, they do if you take the right dose. They are nicotine replacement and you have to be honest and admit you smoke more than you would like to believe. I am not on the 7mg.

On the days that i dont wear a patch i eat more. The brain confuses nicotine cravings with being hungry and if you are giving up smoking you naturally eat to take the craving away.

And YES you do eat life a fat foofing pig but its fun and the food tastes better lol, but its not permenant, well it is if you want it to be

Thanks for the support guys and well done to those that have given up.
