Unfortunately, I'd say more "postponed", this will only strengthen the resolve of the RMT, and I believe that when they re-ballot there will be a much higher percentage of Yes votes.

I'm personally pleased with the result as I was not looking forward to strike day at all.

Well at least the self serving militant little ***** won't be able to have their extended Easter holiday for now and will give Network Rail more time to prepare for the next action.

So you're prepared to travel on an unsafe railway network then?

Extended Easter holiday Don't be silly.

People are losing their jobs left right and centre here, more at stake than a few days off!

You've been played like and old piano..

I've done some contract work for both ASLEF and RMT - you should see their HQ's. ASLEF's plush Hampstead office and "house" next door that accommodates their "leader". Just like peado's and socialists they will soon be outcasts and a relic of dumb thinking of 30 to 40 years ago

Hope that helps

Nope doesnt help too much really Im under no illusions as to the luxury of there HQs, you should see Westwood, Network Rails management training centre they all pale in comparison to that place

Ive seen the proposals from Network Rail of the Ts&Cs they want to impliment and they make pretty scary reading to track workers like myself. None of us want to go on strike (who in there right mind would??)
Personally I would love to see both sides come to an agreement without a strike, not getting my hopes up though

Well how about instead of striking and holding whole country to ransom by stopping commuters, travellers and freight rail and damaging the economy, why does't your union go through the legal process, it worked for Network Rail due to your Union's dodgy ballot. Don't like the T & C get another job like everyone else, if they're breach their contract take them to a tribunal. Besides thought the strike was supposed to be about public safety and not your working conditions.

Well actually the signallers strike is about public safety, Im not a signaller I work in maintenance. and our strike is regarding changes to our Ts&Cs. (It was 2 seperate strikes occuring in the same time frame)
Im very happy with my Ts&Cs thankyou, its Network Rails proposed changes to my Ts&Cs I have a problem with.
Id hardly call it holding the whole country to ransom, NWR certainly have enough managers to ensure some kind of train service runs

So you don't like the new T&C so your union black mails Network Rail with a "conveniently" time 4 day strike aimed to cause massive disruption for millions of travelling public and damage the already fragile ecomony; why should people and businesses be made to suffer?

Well a strike aimed at times when next to no trains are running wouldnt have much impact would it? Thats the idea behind a strike, to make Network Rail sit up and take notice.

Anyway pointless arguing about it, the strikes off now, hopefully both sides will get back round the table and thrash an agreement out and avoid any strike action.

Our issues (signallers) was mostly about NR adhering to PTR&R, the proposed alterations the the T3 procedures have been shelved (most likely for good). The enforced rostering in new locations is something that NR will NEVER imo give in to.

Nobody other than NR employees would give a $hit about this, all they care about is the disruption it would cause to their daily commute, and why should they. So you will never gain any kind of understanding from the public. Comments like "if you don't like it, get another job like everybody else" is all you can expect.

I sympathise with those who may lose their job, I've been through that process and I was one of the lucky few that was able to keep my job. But what would you expect from a firm that is trying to cut costs, increase efficiencies and survive in the tough economic climate. It has to do something otherwise, the firm could go under and everyone will lose out. But I expect NR employees don't give a $hit about that.

It nothing personal, its just my opinion (which doesn't count for much in the grand scheme of things.) To think that all we care about is the inconvenience to our daily commute is patronising to say the least. I myself could easily work from home. The strike itself would cost an estimated £600m a day which is a big hit on an economy that is struggling to pull itself out of a recession and would hit many businesses that struggle in the current economic climate.

Besides, the validity of the ballot and the way it was conducted says a lot about the Union leaders. Strike action is all we can expect when Unions get a whiff of something they don't like.
