Work ethic question . .
Hi scoobynetters!
Look . .I have been living on and off in the United States for the last 4 years, and my contact with the UK has been quite sporadic . . .There are , a few observations I would like to share with you and invite your opinions . .
I have reached the stage where I know that every time I deal with home, be it a financial institution or any other service industry I frequently encounter
1) Things very badly organised
2) Chronic and pathological incompetence
3)Lack of basic courtesy and manners/respect
4) Lack of initiative and or free thinking
5) Lack of pride in oneself/ones profession . . .
This is not just a rant, but rather a curiousity . . . . . .To me what is the most fascinating thing is that the UK, does not have anything , in the sense it has lost its industrial competitive edge.....The last thing remaining is the service industry....And even that is not done very well . .
Could there be a long standing sense of entitlement in the culture, where failure and being incompetence is turned a blind eye on . . . . .A f@ck up , or any kind of mistake is now considered so matter of fact
Could this be because the UK has been leaning towards the left for a very long time . . .Far too long . . So long that individual responsibility has been eroded . . .
This observation just pertains to London, and other parts of the country fare worse . . .
Have the concepts of "My word-my bond" and " Consider it done" now vanished to the history books???
Or is there simply too much money about that the ethic is work less, earn more . . . In the free United States, the situation is somewhat different . . .
Why?? Gentlemen and ladies..Opinions please!
