Default In the Valley of Elah v Hurt Locker

I know this is a bit behind the times - but I have just watched Elah and thought it was a brilliant take on the US war in Iraq. At least to my eyes it was a much better tale of the situation than Hurt Locker.

Anyone else seen it?

It has Charlize Theron in it playing a very understated non-glamourous role - still gorgeous though!

It is good - although IMHO nowhere near as good as I expected it to be.

It is a bit like Jarhead for the bomb disposal teams.

Yes it is. Didn't realise it had so many nominations etc. prior to watching it.

Hurt locker was ok, not spectacular as war films go, its one of those films you watch once then put it in the cupboard and maybe drag out again 2 years later and wonder why you put it in the cupboard in the first place, then watch it and remember

Valley of Elah was quite grim really but thought provoking, I preffered the Hurt Locker personally.

Hurt Locker is OK , But not a s good as I expected and the Oscar it got was more for the troops over there than the film I feel.

Totally agree with you, more of a morale builder than for the film's excellence (or lack of).

I agree that Elah packed a pretty big emotional punch, and took you a few rounds.

This is where I think it bettered Hurt Locker in that is was less glamourous and more real - to my taste.
