Default Radar detectors

Do people still use these? the Snooper ones seem to be really cheap and the reviews say some models pick up radar cameras as well as fixed ones - are these still legal?

reason for wanting is i drive a van during the day and more and more mobile units are popping up all over

I use Road Angel and never had any problems - picks up the mobile units provided you have the right unit, the cheap ones don't always have what you are looking for.

The trick is to make sure you keep the database updated, then it's good enough for anywhere in the UK.

I'm sure others on here will have their own opinions on other units, but I've persoanlly had RA for four years now and found it to be excellent.

Had my Snooper for quite some time now, it will pick up lasercams but probably too late and it used to show Gatso's with radar operating, but the radar detector unit has gone TU. All the rest works very well as far as warning where the cameras are.

I think the GPS ones are worth having, otherwise I wouldn't bother, I had one of the oriiginal snoopers and it was a complete waste of time, so many false alerts it was stupid

Try driving within the limits and save your cash. They are there for a reason and it's not always money making.

I usually do, but very easy to make a mistake, especially in 20 mph zones.
