Going to Cheltenham Festival what should I wear.
Me and the mrs have got tickets to the first day. What would you advise us to wear. She wants to dress up like it was Ladies day but I think it will be freezinng.
Should she wear a dress & hat ?
Should I wear a suit or jeans & jumper
I would understand dressing up in the Summer but not sure in this weather.
Thanks
Any help would be good.

I'd suggest a roomy pink silk shirt with spots tucked into some tight riding breeches and some worn out riding boots. You'd need a cap and a mean looking whip.
I assume you are less than 5ft tall with bow legs?

Always worn casual stuff myself (i.e. jeans, shirt, etc.) + the appropriate outerwear for the conditions. It can be sodding cold if the wind is blowing but then have also been when it's sunny and warm.
Some like to dress up for it though, i.e. suited and booted, makes a bit of an occasion of it I suppose and makes it look like you know what you're doing
Make sure you get into Cheltenham after, party central

Depends where you are on the course, general admission tickets does not really matter although not many wear jeans and T shirt.
This link shows the general style and pattern of overcoats people would wear to a day at the races lighter coloured overcoats and felt or suede collars seem to be the thing.

Tweed Suit,
Dressing for ladies day at Ascot is definately not the thing, cheltenham is more of a lads day at the races for people who like racing and beer, Ascot is for those that like to pose and dress up.
