I have similar wear on my OEM 16" Bridgestones. Dealer did say tracking was out which would account for the uneven wear. Colleague at work running 16" SO2s on a 98 5 door had the same uneven wear.
I've also noticed some tramlining with these tyres - hopefully upgrading to 17" SO2 PPs

Anybody else experienced tramlining on worn original 16" tyres?
MY00 UK 4 door turbo
16" rims
11,000 miles at tyre change (now running S02's
)
The car tended to tramline and I didn't realise how bad it was until I changed the tyres for new ones.
Both of the front original tyres were badly worn on the inside tracks.
Is this a bad tracking/geometry issue, or is it because of bump steer, which will only be fully rectified by doing the bump steer modification?
Thanks

UK MY00 slight tramilining with std 16" when new, once down to about 3-4mm got progressively worse (especially in the wet) Changed for 17" Toyos and tramlining has practically disappeared. Wear on the 16" was consistent across the tyres.
They ride better except on bumpy roads in town where they are marginally worse.

Exactly the same boat... MY00, standard 16" Bridgestones, down to 1mm on insides after 10K. Tramlining getting worse over the last few thousand. Off to buy me a new pair of something or other tomorrow, and I'll see what difference it makes. I'll probably get Goodyear F1s, as most of my driving is commuting so I don't need the ultimate performance of the S02...
By the way, the people who do the geometry checking for SGT in Taplow won't do a full check unless you've got new tyres on, as it's effectively a waste of time, they say.

New pair of front tyres (Goodyear F1) and a half degree of tracking adjustment and it's like a different car... No tramlining at all. The F1s seem pretty reasonable so far - only wet grip tested! Probably not as good as the S02s, but as I do >15K per year, I'd spend all year at the tyre shop with them.
I'll see how the F1s wear compared to the OEM Potenzas.

OEM Bridgestones re010's - tramlined badly from new. Really
badly when worn.
Recently changed all 4 and on examination they had even wear accross and no tracking issues.
New tyres are also re010's and car doesn't tramline anywhere nearly as badly
New ones are *w* rated, originals were *v* rated - perhaps that explains difference.

As mentioned in my earlier reply, I was hoping to upgrade to 17" SO2-PPs, which I have now done (wrapped around a nice set of Raceline RL-7s). Big difference, even though I've only done a few hundred miles on them, they feel much better. Haven't experienced any tramlining (yet), understeer is reduced and the grip levels are amazing and I'm told they take about a 1000 miles to fully bed in - bugger knows what they'll be like then
Not the cheapest option around, but well worth it.
