Getting rid of an exhaust - where

I have my old scoobs full original exhaust in the garage and need to get rid of it. I heard a garage mechanic say the cats on the exhaust are worth something at the metal scrapyard as they contain something 'valuable'.

Anyone know if it is worth taking it to a metal scrap yard and will I get anything for it or shall I just take it to my local tip and dispose of it there?

take it to the tat yard, you should get something for the cat, at one point i knew someone who was getting £60 a downpipe, so well worth the try in my opinion.

Or take it to the local amenity tip and stick it in the metals bin.

The cat is made out of some expensive metal or other. Can't remember now. Well worth a try to see what you can get for it.

Platinum - last timei checked a scrap cat was worth about £50. Depends what model and how much platinum's in it though.

leave it outside your house some pikey will pick it up .

i left a set of steel rims outside the back of my shop once that id bought (deep dished vw rims) i went in to make a phone call and by the time i got back they were gone lol

Any old scrappers will take it off you, but you'll get the best money at a proper metal processor.

Looks like E36 BMW ones are pretty valuable!

Cheers, i'll have a search locally fr one then unless anyone knows of any in Kent? Must be a good business, I went to school with a kid whose dad was a scrap metal dealer and a multi millionaire.

Got £25 for it from the local metal scrapper, was just centre cat/pipe and still attached to backbox but they didn't care. Took it off me, shouted out factory spec cat all ok and then I got a receipt and £25 slapped in my hand. Happy with that as was just going to chuck it!
